The logic is clear. You can not like the price, but they don’t want Matthews taking all the dzone draws and they don’t want Matthews/Knies/Willy being their top pkers. And I think more importantly, Matthews doesn’t want to be used like that.

Well they signed him to play a specific role that they had been using Matthews to fill. Hes overpaid for sure, but I don’t think his salary dictates that he’ll play 15 mins a game or whatever. He’ll definitely be a checking line/dzone face off, PK center and that’s it.
