2018-19 Miscellaneous News Thread

It’s not who locally would notice, it’s who nationally would and how quickly we’d see the BS “the Hurricanes/Panthers/Coyotes are moving” tripe.

Fans don’t like to see crappy teams, but the Blackhawks, Pens, Bruins get a pass when fans stay away in droves. But in a “non-traditional” market, it’s first sign of the apocalypse.

Sure ... but so is a strong breeze. I mean, they don't need the excuse for the Canes/Panthers/Coyotes are moving BS. Those ledes are burned into the pixels on their laptop screens already. And honestly, none of those clowns ever watch any of those teams play anyway. You really think they'd notice that the seat backs were changed if somebody didn't tell them?

I mean, I get that the Association kind of has to appeal if the player wants to do so, but in this case I swear they ought to tell him to get stuffed. I mean, it's another Association member that he's slugging in the head in all of these incidents.

Every PA is always more concerned with the suspended player, rather than the other guy. It doesn’t matter if it’s Wilson, or Vontez Burfict or a head hunting pitcher.

Great comparison with Wilson and Burfict! There is a Vegas Prop Bet at one casino on what quarter of the upcoming Steelers/Bengals game Burfict is ejected this weekend.

No word on if Edler is having a hearing or not? He should be penalized for the headshot to Foegele.

Hard to tell on that one, watching it in real time. I'm sure they gave a review up in the discipline office, because that's standard practice on that penalties.

A check to the head can only be called as a minor or a match penalty. Where an injury didn’t occur, I don’t think anything will come of it.

That doesn't bode well for the 20 game suspension that Wilson got should Bettman uphold it and Wilson and the NHLPA elect to further appeal. The same arbitrator would hear that appeal as well if Tom Wilson takes it that far.

It has been said before, but I really don't understand how the NHLPA can support Wilson in an appeal. He is trying to maim other NHLPA members and it SHOULD be in the NHLPA's best interest to support the suspension. At some point the NHLPA should have some backbone and call out the obvious. Not every situation deserves an appeal if they are really responsible for the best interest of NHLPA members.

Under the terms of the CBA and their own bylaws they pretty much HAVE to defend a player in that situation. That doesn't mean they have to like it, or even do a good job. Based on some reporting on past incidents, a fair amount of the time PA counsel file for and then go to these hearings but don't actually DO anything other than sit there while the player, his agent and his own representation do all the actual work. Just worth noting for clarity.
