I love Marner and all he brings, but if it his desire is to be paid like Matthew's, then jettison him off to another team and reap the rewards.

If the leafs could get a panarin for 9.5 million for 5 seasons, and take the haul they get from another team for Marner, wouldnt that make the leafs a better team?

Marleau has a vast amount of experience at not getting it done in the playoffs(Sharks).

We didn't need that kind of "leadership"

I'm sure the guy is well liked in the locker room but that's not the same thing

Muzzin is the kind of guy we need more of. A grizzled vet who has gotten it done at the highest level.
 
So was it JT that made Marners numbers jump by 30pts or was it being removed from lines like these...

It shouldn’t be a surprise.

I could never believe that so many of you thought that good guy Marleau would be more than happy to move himself and his family of six wherever in North America in order to help the Leafs solve their cap woes.
 
I'm not sure it's fair to say only one guy or the other had his numbers benefit. It's clearly both.

but counting the number of times Marner performed sorcery and all Tavares had to do was go to the net with his stick down...I don't know if we can say Marner benefited more than JT did.
 
Sorry babe, but I think it was more of the tavares factor.

Van rimmer is an excellent pp specialist and finisher.
Kadri is a 2nd line talent.
Bozak is sneaky talented.
Matthew's is really talented, although they havent really played together much, except on the powerplay.
He did play quite a few games with willie and if you ask most here, willie is ubber talented.

No, I think this seasons point totals are more of a tavares thing.
And dont forget he also has the gudpro hyman as his linemate. That my friend makes a world of difference lololol.

I was one of the hopeful.
I would have thought that stealing 18 million dollars off of someone would have given him some shame ..... but alas poor patrick has shown me to be wrong again.

well, I hope he can look his teammates in the face when they lose one of their key young pieces so he can suck balls on the 4th line at age 40, because sacrificing 6 months of seeing his family regulary in exchange for millions of dollars would have been so tough.
 
If the leafs bring back phaneuf I will say that the leafs opportunity to win the Stanley cup is officially closed.

We could have kept polak, who is a better skater, passer and more physical. (SARCASM)

As much of a magician Mitch is with the puck having a guy as aware it JT on his line makes his job much easier

His on ice awareness is through the roof. Just one of those guys who knows where to be all the time in the offensive zone
 
There is a bit of a sample size problem there (150 min apart vs 1000+ together), but both JT and Mitch have a history of making the guys they play with better. No shocker they both had career years playing together. Two of the best in the game.
