2025 Canes Entry Draft Thread

Started a draft thread for Friday and Saturday's draft activity for everything Canes related. Feel free to update the thread title.

Canes picking 29th barring a trade of that first round pick...a few really intriguing names in and around those late 20's picks...
Danil Prokhorov, a 6'6" 210 pound monster left winger with great hands!
Will Horcoff, Shawn's boy who is 6'4" 200 LW with a nasty sandpaper and grit game and some scoring touch.
Alexander Zharovsky, a 6' 1" Russian RW with lots of offensive upside and skill.
Blake Fiddler, a 6' 4" 210 pound right shot defenseman that is a great skater and another offspring of a former NHL alum.
Vaclav Nestrasil, a Czech forward that has been rising up the draft board of late.
The two top goalies in Ravensbergen and Frolov are also there as late first round candidates.

Sounds like their will be a huge run on centers at the top of the draft board tomorrow night.

And I also think there's a good chance that the Canes end up trading their first rounder, even if it's just to move down. They don't have a 2nd round pick this year and most of this draft class slips into 2nd round value once you get past the top two layers. Wouldn't shock me to see them drop if they can pick up a 2nd rounder and a bonus pick. If they do draft, everybody seems to expect them to draft a center ... but since this is the Canes we're talking about you can probably expect them to take a value pick on whichever guy has the highest skill ceiling regardless of size or position. And a lot of teams are increasingly acting like Russian prospects are radioactive. Just sayin' ... if you're a betting person, taking a prop on Carolina picking a small, skilled, Russian wing with pick 29 is probably good value.
