Faulk overrated?

Shea Weber was a second round pick, hard to believe but true! If we had any faith in this org to draft and develop defensemen then they would get a free pass...but that is far from the case with Rutherford and that shallow collection of scouts this team cheaps out on. The track history is terrible overall...Knaysev, Tselios, Tanabe...not to mention the mess with Jack Johnson. Now you have a bunch of question marks in long shot prospects like Jordan, Lowe, Levi, Robertson...

Murphy so far looks more like a M.A. Bergeron or J.M. Liles and less like a Paul Coffey!

Keegan Lowe someday might be a #6 DMan. Beyond Ryan Murphy, the only other DMan prospect with a real shot in our entire system is Trevor Carrick, and who knows what he is really going to be as a pro. That's not a good position to be in considering our current NHL defense.

There's that Pitkanen guy, still in the system for a few months!

He's been making noise about feeling better of late, too.

Just sayin ... I wouldn't put it past Jimmy to completely pass on re-signing Hainsey so he can bring Pitkanen back on yet another inflated, no trade clause contract.

if both could be had for decent amounts would be we worth considering both of them being back?

If Pitkanen can make a complete recovery, I'm all for giving him a 1 year "tryout" deal for $3m or less. But the big question is, will he be ready by next season? He'd be a nice upgrade over Komisarek, Harrison, etc., if hes healthy.

Pitkanen should get a 1 year contract with performance bonuses allowed under CBA 50.2:

Players who are "400-plus game Players" for
pension purposes, and who: (i) in the last year of their most
recent SPC, spent 100 days or more on the Injured Reserve
List; and (ii) have signed a one-year SPC for the current or
upcoming League Year.

This clause exists for players exactly in Pitkanen's situation. If he is ready to try to resume his career next season, if not the Canes, someone will give him a 1 year deal with performance bonuses to protect the team from Pitkanen not being able to play or play to a high level. His base salary is going to be low, he will have a chance to cash in on performance bonuses if he can actually play.

Personally, I wouldn't sign Pitkanen with a gun to my head. But I think everybody already knew that.

Lowe has not looked particularly good in Charlotte this season. It could be that it is his first year in the AHL, but for a guy who is supposed to have hockey smarts, he sure makes a ton of bad mistakes.

On the otherhand, Danny Biega has looked really good to me...Always seems to be in the right place and has a some physical aspects to his game....
