GDT #32: 17/12/22 - Mr.Sammy Goes to Washington

Sounds like Lilly is good to go. Fingers crossed.

Caps had a 5gm win streak snapped by Dallas last time out. They're not a great team anymore but still dangerous, with solid offensive depth.

I am starting to feel like Sammy is our #1 going forward but i'm still letting that percolate for now.

Exactly 51 games left in the Leafs’ season, so if Mitch starts a new streak tonight, he’s still got a chance at tying Gretzky’s streak this year.

Also, pretty please don’t do the Leafy as fuck thing and let Putin’s bitch tie and/or pass Howe’s record against us.

Makes sense I guess. Even if you wanted to try Lilly there, him bashing up his hand makes that less than ideal. Gio probably isn't mobile enough anymore to cover the entire blueline in the umbrella format we play. Sandin hasn't done much at all with the opportunity, Timmins still learning the system.

For all the shit he takes, we sure could use Mo back from injury.

People severely underestimate how elite his mobility, offensive IQ, passing are.

Been a top 5 offensive defender for 6-7 years now. If he had anything resembling a point shot he'd probably be a 70-80 point a year guy.

It's his ability to keep the play alive and maintain the zone on the PP that I think is most underrated

Yeah, I'd agree with that.

Also, point shots suck.

I mean, they do as a standalone shot, but I'm not entirely convinced that they don't have value in how it creates spacing issues for a PK as well as it's tip/rebound potential.

I'm guessing Sandin is PPG since being added to the PP? And it's been what, like 8-10 games only? Thought he looked better and better with each game so far.

That said, I do think Lilly might be better there.

3 PP points in 11 games since taking over for Rielly. Ras has 7 points total in those 11 games.

I showed you the numbers the other night, the PP has been turrible since Rielly got hurt.

Those are the kinds of anthems I like…
Short and sweet.
I hate the bloated long winded dramatically sappy bullshit anthems

Yes, the overall PP numbers, but we're attributing the power failure completely to Ras, and I don't see him being an issue out there.

I knew he had a bunch of points lately, but interesting that he got more of them at evens.

Literally the only thing that changed was the QB but yeah it's not entirely Ras' fault. But it's not crazy to suggest that Ras is a significant downgrade from one of the best PP QB's in the world.
