I really hope they don't fire Muller until after the season when, then, hopefully someone has a clue in the organization what the long term plan is. Sure if you do it now, you get first crack at available guys but you can also lose out on guys that may come open after the season ends when the normal axings occur. Doing the whole temp thing with Daniels (or whoever) just doesn't buy the team much as they are done this year playoffs wise. The team will just increase costs for this year with no real benefit. Any results the coach gets are likely not "real" nor comparable to what you would expect over a full year as there is no time to implement lasting system changes.

I have become less of a fan of Muller as the year progressed, but he is still not the root problem...only a symptom. A new coach with both JR and Eric Staal in their current roles changes nothing. See last 7-8 years for references......
 
How about jr moves on? I can't repeat this enough.
What is the sense of a rebuild or trades or anything else if jr keeps rebuilding with the same type players?
The first order of business should be for jr to replace himself and Francis.
Let the new gm hire his own coach.

First off, I would have canned Muller after last season. Any coach who loses 14 in a row isn't cut out to be a coach at the major level. Second, I think Daniels deserves a shot. He has bided his time down in CLT and nothing to say he couldn't be successful. What other options are there? AHL is a popular breeding ground for coaches..Boudreau, bylsma, Boucher, etc..
 
If Rutterfart was not such a stubborn, crusty old geezer he would have enough brains and pride for the organization that he would step aside for poor job performance. Once you remove the GM, it allows a new GM to hire a coach that holds every single one if these players accountable. Until that happens, nothing changes here except more empty seats and cancelled season tickets.

Yeah, Daniels has been lighting up the AHL! He's most definitely proven that he's NHL ready! Like I said, they hire him, I"m done. I'm fed up with the nepotism.
