The Canes visit the Slugs for a matineé.

The Canes are still sniffing around the periphery of the playoff race. But getting 7 of 8 points since the trade deadline has barely made a dent in their deficit, still trailing Detroit by 4 points with the Wings holding a game in hand. Expect the same lineup as Thursday. After the win on Thursday, the Canes are at NHL .500 on the road at 15-15-4.

The Slugs are NHL .500 on the road too but 12-18-5 at home and have only won 1 of their last 5 at home. Jack Eichel has 20 goals. Ryan O'Reilly has 32 assists and 49 points.

Dumb play by Murphy to send the puck backwards led to that GWG. Know how much time is on the clock, son.
 
Murphy plays like flaming hot garbage. The kid cannot hit the net on most of his shots, useless defensively and out of position and a giveaway on the winner with no attempt to even skate back. This kid needs to go!
 
I had to watch the replay. I thought it was Skinner falling down that led to it, but he was just desperately trying to stop the pass - he knew Eichel was clear and they were hosed.

OTOH if Cam had it in him to stop a breakaway...

I agree that Ryan Murphy costs us more than he gives us. And Jordan's TO led to the slugs first goal. These two are not keepers. Skinner has been playing his heart out, I just wish he'd been able to net one of those chances.
 
And Cam Ward failed to stop the one shot that killed the game with .01 sec. on the clock. Oh, well that's the continuing story of the Canes!
 
Simply can't lose to bottom dwellers like Edmonton and Buffalo, but that's exactly what the Canes keep doing. Which makes them bottom dwellers too.
