Legend:

Letter Grades = Quality of Competition measured by opponents' time on ice, Converted into Letter Grades for simplicity
p60 = points per 60 minutes
CF% = Corsi For Percentage (i.e. shot attempts for percentage)
xGF% = Expected Goals For Percentage (i.e. shot attempt percentage adjusted for shot quality) - this stat is already adjusted for zone deployment and game score
In Brackets = CF% and xGF% relative to team
dsv% = difference between save percentage and expected save percentage

Have we received any details on Zaitsev's injury?

We haven't received anything on Matthews and he has been out for weeks. Doubt we will get anything on Zaitsev although I vaguely remember him being hobbled after blocking a shot on Friday so may have a fracture. Pure speculation though at this point.

For those wondering why this game is at 2 pm vs the Canes:

Basically, the Leafs want the building full of kids. The rumour is that some schools will be bused in to watch, as Leafs season-ticket holders were encouraged to donate their tickets to this game if they couldn't attend. (Given they work and all.)

MLSE says they wanted this game to mark the "next 100 years" for fans. They're hoping to make some new Leafs fans by getting kids to their first ever NHL game, something they would obviously remember for a long time.

The game will also be broadcast live in 16 Toronto schools and Sick Kids hospital as part of coordinate viewing parties pu on by the team.

...
"Today's Next Century Game marks the official birthday of the franchise, and it's the perfect opportunity to look ahead to the next 100 years and the next generation of fans.

"We wanted today's game to be a unique and memorable moment for the young fans who will be cheering on this team for many years. ... Our hope is that it not only is a day to remember for them but that the team also made a few new young fans today."

...

As for "why Carolina?" well that part is a bid more cynical. I was told by an NHL source that the Hurricanes were likely chosen because season-ticket holders would be more reluctant to give up thier seats to see the Habs, Sens or another rival team.

Carolina on a Tuesday, however, is a game many of the very wealthy ticket holders wouldn't attend anyway. And this game won't be worth nearly as much on the secondary ticket market either.

For those wondering why this game is at 2 pm vs the Canes:
I dunno...the whole "it's for the children" thing rings pretty hollow.

If the Leafs really wanted to have a whole bunch of kids at the game, why are they charging full freight for every ticket in the building, and putting all the onus on their ticket holders to cough up their expensive seats to random children?

Why didn't the Leafs buy up blocks of tickets themselves, and hand them out to kids?

Who knows, most likely money lost from sacrificing a home game's worth of revenue, but if you want your season ticket holders to donate their tickets to kids then having a 2 p.m Tuesday game against Carolina makes a ton of sense.

Have they been good goals or Darling sucking?

Nice to see Mitchy making it happen again. Hopefully this turns into sustained production.

Everyone has been so cold offensively I want every line in on the action... is Naz still pointless in December?

Darling has been very shaky on two of the goals.
