The flaw with the MoneyBall approach is that better value doesn’t necessarily win championships. Yeah, better per dollar. But is he better?

A 5 mil BM will get 10 less goals than Tuch making 10 mil on an 7-8 year deal and in 3 years its Skinner 2.0 on your cap

Take the savings and help the rest of the roster

BM has no miles at 30 and wont command a big contract , big body shot and crashes the net

I think Kapanen ends up better than slow Mac.
