Carl Grundstrom - 5'11, 194 - Dec. 1, 1997 - Modo - SHL

Strengths:
1. Hockey sense
2. Compete level
3. Leadership & character

Weaknesses:
1. Separation speed
2. Defensive zone

Skill:
Talented, agitating winger who drives his way into scoring areas and has a good nose for the net.

Scouting Report:
A power forward with great work ethic. Loves to play the body and does it well. Had an inconsistent season with Modo and at times didn’t see a lot of ice time. Grundstrom played on the 3rd line at WJC and played a key checking role on a very good Swedish team. He has good upside on both sides of the puck and will make a good pro. Decent puck skills and skating ability. Comfortable carrying the puck and moved it at the appropriate times. Understands the game. Can improve his acceleration and defensive game. His physical game is excellent. Possesses a strong body. Signed two-year contract with Frolunda on April 13th, 2016.

Dir. Of Scouting, D. MacInnis:
“Competitive forward who plays with an edge and no fun to play against. Has adequate speed but no separation speed. Good playmaker with hard shot and quick release. Decent size and good strength, loves to hit, has a good attitude and always drives to the net. Strong in front of the net.”

ISS Scout O. Lahdesmaki: “Forward bringing energy and strong two-way play to the table. Shows consistency and is reliable on both sides of the puck. Smart two-way player.”

NHL Potential: Bottom 6 – role player.

I tend to just like Swedes. The lingering Sundin factor.

I like this kid the more I've read about him and looked at his numbers. Would be great if he became Leo II.
