Sheldon Keefe Watch…

Can't see Dubas firing his buddy Keefe.

Don't think Sheldon's going anywhere unless Dubas is going with him. And I can't see Dubas gong anywhere mid-season either.
 
Dubas had better be thinking more long-term than tying himself to a single coach. Coaching changes happen all the time - and it's starting to feel like these guys need a different voice.

Lay that Babcock money out for Trotz and his staff.

At what point do we have to look at this group of players and how they might not be a good mix together.

Like my ADHD riddled step son, they do not seem to learn. Its the same old stuff.
 
Tavares and Nylander seem to be just fine.

As usual, just like in the elimination games, if Matty and Marner are nonfactors, we’re not going to win most games. You can’t have your two best players be useless and expect to win much.
 
Comparing October regular season games to elimination games is weird. Matthews and Marner have a large enough sample of dominant regular season play to not lump these games into the same bucket as game 7 playoffs. They've been shit, no doubt. But there's zero reason to believe this continues.

I don’t disagree, but it’s a bit concerning that they went straight from that playoffs bust and into this season with that same level of ineffective play. And let’s face it, if they’re still like this by game 15, there’s going to be a fair amount to be legitimately worried about and there will be changes. Keefe, in other words. You can’t have Matty with 5 goals or some shit like that by game 15 and brush it off with it’s only November talk.
 
It's like they are playing with the wrong sticks, bobbling passes, flubbing shots.
 
I'm of the opposite mindset. I'd rather explain the Leafs suckage with Matthews and Marner having outlier garbage stretches than having those two dominate with the leafs still looking trash as a whole. If they suddenly turned into Calle Yarn Cock caliber players then yeah that's fucking alarming. But I somehow doubt that to be the case. Call it a hunch.

Obviously they’re not bottom sixers suddenly. But they have to stop playing like that soon, not by the 30 game mark.
 
Actually I was talking about the Leafs with a neighbor (leaf fan) and we both are starting to feel like the players are trying to get a new coach. Wouldn't be the first time.

Yeah leafs pay and count on these guys to keep their down stretches to 10 games or less. Any more is unacceptable, but still not alarming for the team as a whole.
