The Good The Bad & The Ugly - Game 9 - Habs vs Oilers

Well I guess you can't win them all. We looked off all night. And in all honesty, the Oilers didn't look that bad.

I'm off to bed

Team knows how to lose in style. 7-1 to Tampa, shutout by the Oilers. Probably the only shutout Oilers will get all year.

Oilers won their last 3 games before playing us so they were playing some good hockey. I am not impressed at all by P-A guy . The guy can't even shot the puck beside being a soft player !Anyway shit happens ,we thought it will be easy game maybe..

With the way the team played, Therrien did Price a favor by not playing him. No reason for Price to lose another game in Edmonton. On to Calgary, to the team that was expected to be a tougher opposite than Edmonton, for the Habs. Oh Joy. :incazzato:

Montreal was the better team, and owned the possession most of the night.... Final count 25-13 shots at even strength.

Habs carried the play and Scrivens played well. Bound to happen once in a while over 82 games.

Still 7-2-0 is nothing you can complain about after 9 games.

Habs won 7 of first 8 games. But the reality is they didnt dominate in any of those wins. They just found a way to win. Tonight they didnt find a way, law of averages caught up.

Not a good effort by the team tonight led by some of the guys with an A on their jersey.

Beyond that I think Prust might be done even though MT loved him tonight. Beaulieu looked awful and Moen is just aggrevating to see on the ice.

AG was the best Hab... everybody else had better make-up for it tomorrow.

Price is awful out west and the Habs arent much better in Calgary. Add to that our zero pp goals on he road.

Time to put Sekac & Bournival in the lineup. Bourque and Moen can take a breather.

RB should sit. That third line looked much better with Sekac.

Weise is a solid fourth liner. He had a good stretch in the playoffs last season but we all knew that wouldnt last. At him his 7 minutes of 5 on 5 and use him on the pk. That's all.

Well, Weise is miscast on the third line. Like you said, he's a solid fourth liner and it stops there.

I liked what Sekac brought to the third line. I'm still not sure why exactly he was scratched.

There is no point to sit Sekac for so many games ,Send him either to Hamilton or play him . I know his game still need some adjustment specially on winning battles but he can't do it by sitting on press box .

Well that was poop, some bad decisions, some poor execution... It happens.

I'll be annoyed if it happens again on this trip.

Beaulieu looked awful???????

A guy who was on the ice for 20 attempts by the Habs at the Oilers Net (16 at ES) and only 5 attempts by the Oilers at the Habs net looked awful?

The Habs dominated possession every time Beaulieu was on the ice, how could he look awful?

I don't go that far to say he was awful but He was at fault of first goal !

Second goal... Yes.

He made one bad play in the game... however the vast, vast majority of his time on the ice was spent in the Edmonton end with the Habs getting the offensive chances.

Do that every game (give up one scoring chance, generate lots of scoring chances for your team), and in the long run, you are going to be an all-star in this league.

Habs controlled the game and ran into a hot goalie. It happens. It will happen at least 4-5 more times this season where a hot goalie will steal a game the Habs should have won. Meanwhile 4-5 times this year the Habs will also win games they should lose cause of Price or Tokarski stealing it. Happens with every team.

But if you play with this kind of possession every night, you are gonna be a top tier hockey club.

Only two Habs (Weise and Markov) had negative Even Strength Corsi Tonight.
Only one Hab (Prust) took more defensive zone faceoffs than offensive zone ones tonight (and most guys were above 60% off zone starts)... this shows that the majority of the game was in the Edmonton end of the ice.

Possession was a huge advantage Montreal.
Scoring Chances and Shots were huge advantages Montreal.

Scrivens played very well, give him credit...

The team is 7-2-0, time to move on.

I didn't think he looked good for a guy who wants back in the line-up... so sue me, Jonah Hill.

He's generally a guy called on to provide offense and when you get zero goals and few rushes with the puck you notice it... and no, Scrivens wasn't that great as you say. I also think Subban was so-so tonight so deal with that.

Nate was brutal on the 2nd goal so we'll see if MT keeps him in the line-up on this trip or gets Tinordi back in there.

Also the Cowboys lost, Romo maybe hurt for the year and I hate Edmonton... all of which tempered my mood... plus I hate this stat shit you guys keep pimping on here. AG was the only decent Habs player in this game... and that's that.
