The History of the Whalers' Logo

I don't recall this being posted here, and in case it hasn't, I thought I would share it...

It's a local television interview from a few months ago with the creator of the Hartford Whalers logo.

When I tell you how and why I came across it--which I can't right now because it's connection with a confidential project I'm working on for a client--I think you're gonna love it!

I can't believe the league doesn't own the logo. Conventional wisdom was that the NHL had to wait for the CDA to give up the license before they could start selling merchandise. Whalers logo items were missing in the market for years. If Good still owns it, the league would have to pay him a royalty or licensing fee for every article they sold. When the Jr. Hurricanes started, RYHA had to get design approval from the NHL before we could have jerseys made.

I can now go public with the little project I was working on that led me to the information about the Whalers' logo...

You will probably love the fact that we kicked things off with 30 minutes of "Brass Bonanza" on a continuous loop until launched the station at 10:29 this morning.

Oh, and before you drop the "people still listen to radio?" and "will it be the same 300 songs over and over again?" comments, let me save you the pain of revealing your lack of originality.

some people really don't like change. So the music they listened to at 16 they stuck with at 26,36,46,56, and so on.

and there are enough of those people to support radio stations.

Personally I got tired of 95% of classic rock long ago. BTW I am 54.

Its always a battle for me with the radio with the kids in the car. With XM I'm always listening to 70s and 80s, classic rewind and vinal, New Wave, Ozzy's Boneyard, etc. Kids just want to listen to Hits1 and today's mostly bubblegum pop and crap I just can't stand. I'm made some progress over the years where the kids will tolerate some of my favorite music.

I love 70s music and listening the old replays of the American top 40 countdowns. The 70s was such a dynamic period for music with the classic rock I love from that decade mixed in with old country staples, some great ballads, disco, funk, etc. Its always a treat for me to listen to those countdowns, much more enjoyable than today's billboard or Hits1 countdowns.

Has been reassuring recently that my 14 year old son likes to listen to ozzy's boneyard, lithium and classic rewind. Of course he also likes Lil Wayne and the like. I will say though, that i'm 51 and with the exception of all the "beatch this" and "beatch that", some of it is pretty decent. He was cracking up the other day when i was jamming to a little SugarHill Gang on "Backspin". Throw in a little dwight yoakam and it's all good. Sirius was made for ADD folks like me!

Addendum: Should add that my 11 year-old daughter drives me crazy with Hits 1 as well!
