Just Walking About Aimlessly
I have decided to do a study on possible points cost to the Habs due to ridiculous officiating decisions. This year will be a little different though, I will not post or analyze highly subjective instances like missed penalty calls or bad calls. Instead I will keep track of things like disallowed goals, offside leading to goals etc. Both for and against will be counted and I will be using a system of Correct, Questionable and Incorrect to determine whether of not the refs got it right or not. Since I cannot monitor all teams and all games (would love for a website to do it btw) it will encompass only the Habs. Anyone wishing to assist is more than welcome.

Instead of posting individual posts per game, I will be updating this first post to keep track. Without further ado...

Game 1:

Montreal @ Toronto

Incident: Clear offside missed on Toronto's first goal

Determination: Incorrect call by linesman

Result: No points lost as Habs won in regulation

Cumulative point loss for season: 0

Game 2:

Montreal @ Washington

Officials: Chris Lee, Rob Martell

Incident: Montreal's first goal disallowed for goalie interference by incidental contact. Replay shows Bourque was pushed into crease and contact was very minimal.

Determination: Questionable call

Result: No points lost for Habs, won in SO. Possible point given to Washington.

Cumulative point loss for season: 0

Game 3

Officials: Chris Lee, Rob Martell

Incident: None

Note: The officiating was horrendous on both sides of the puck. Chris Lee is mind-boggling bad.

Cumulative point loss for season: 0

I wonder if Corksens reacted as violently to our called back goal as he did when called back goals benefitted us in the past.

So how does this work in this case?

Game 7:

Detroit @ Montreal

Officials: Greg Kimmerly, Marc Joannette

Incident: Detroit's second goal disallowed for goalie interference by incidental contact. Contact was very minimal.

Determination: Questionable call

Result: Tied the game and won in OT, 2 points gained. 1 point loss for Detroit

Cumulative point loss for season: -1 (turned out -2)

Did I get that right?

Exactly, so our cumulative point losses for the season is -2.

Our you could say that our cumulative point total change from officiating is +2.

The thread was made with the premise that we would lose more points than gain.
