Willie has moved ahead of Mitchy in our rookie scoring race. Think Mitch may be dealing with an injury... that or he's just looked kinda poopy recently. Kind of nice though to know that if one of our 'big guns' hits a dry spell, we have enough talent that our offence can generally continue on without missing a beat. Will be 3rd game in 4 nights for the Preds so hopefully we can take advantage.

Also doesnt help that JVR and Bozak decide to disappear fairly regularly and tend to not do much when their offensive production goes on a vacay

pretty sure tool is hurt since he skips practices often and playing like one. maybe it is better for him to sit and heal and do not be liability for this team.

It is a bit strange that Babcock, who loves a plug on every line, sticks with that bozak line.

Really, Marner should be with Kadri and Komo.

He likely will be - next year.

And if Marner is sick, that would make sense. He was awful last night.

I think the way Babs sees it is, he wants a player who can drive a line to be on every line, therefore

Hyman - Matthews - Nylander
Komarov - Kadri - Brown
JVR - Bozak - Marner

And that's the reason why Marner is stuck on the 3rd line ... he's the one driving the bozak line. If he moves off that one, Nylander will have to get on that line, which wouldn't be a good fit.

jVR should play with Matthews (defensively responsible). Throw Hyman (defensively responsible) with bozak.

I don't disagree, but Matthews himself is a rookie too, and he makes his share of rookie mistake too.

Plus, JVR and bozak have chemistry from past years

Could also be that Babcock recognizes JVR and Bozak are so bad without the puck its hard to hide them, so just play them with someone who maximizes their strengths. They can score goals.

JVR isn't going into corners and digging out pucks for Matthews though.

And that's the key thing.

For all the wrongs of Hyman, he's a hard worker, and he is good at puck battles. JVR won't even go into the corner, never mind win the puck battle.
