Around The League: 2016-17 Playoffs

Re: Around The League: 2014 - 2015 Season

That's a good idea. Make defensive zone draws part of the skills competition and send Manny.

Re: Around The League: 2014 - 2015 Season

I don't know a single adult who plans on watching the all-star game. Total garbage.

Maybe that's the point, corporate crowd to just "be there" and spend big $, and their kids who actually do the watching - A.D.D style....

Super Sunday, NHL All Star game followed by the Pro Bowl :sleepey:

Re: Around The League: 2014 - 2015 Season

All Star games in every sport are all way past their expiration dates.

They had some appeal in a 5 channel universe where all we could view was one or two hockey (or baseball, basketball) games a week. Now that we can watch every shift of every player there is no reason to tune in to a meaningless exhibition game.

Re: Around The League: 2014 - 2015 Season

The Pens are smart. They're resting their star players rather than make them go to the meaningless all star game, an event that should be either moved to the off-season or discontinued altogether. It serves no useful purpose and as for growing the game among non-traditional fans it's still BS because the hockey they play at the all star game bears little resemblance to how the game is actually played on a day to day basis.

I'm glad Max and PK were snubbed. Too bad Price still has to go. I'd just as soon send Malhotra instead.

Price really wanted to go

Very good point. I'd rather the nhl just take a weekend off and allow players to go for some r n r.

Re: Around The League: 2014 - 2015 Season

The NHL loves to force feed us the all star game but is looking for every excuse to get out of the Olympics. I would rather see the best in hockey play relevant games than meaningless ones.

Amen

Re: Around The League: 2014 - 2015 Season

And now the Avs announce Erik Johnson won't be going to the All-Star Game.

Absolutely. This new World Cup, Super Cup , Canada Cup... whatever it is called seems goofy as well. I realize the scheduling of the Olympics was a big issue as was injuries but I have little interest in the new event they are starting up.

I also wonder what happened to the Winnipeg Jets outdoor game. They suddenly announce they cannot get an agreement in place with the Blue Bombers for the use of their field, lol... WTF? What else is the field used for in the winter months?

I think it is because the Habs just got committed to the Boston outdoor game and that's who the Jets wanted to face. Everyone wants the Habs.
