Scarface is a bad candidate for a remake. The story wasn't great -- what made the movie explode was how excessive it was and Pacino's over the top performance.
There's a reason Tony Montana's lines have been sampled to death. it will be hard for any actor to recite monologues like "I'm the bad guy" and "say hello to my little friend" while keeping a straight face.
Plus, that version was itself a remake of a black and white gangster film. updating it with the real life Cuban/Miami drama was a stroke of genius by Oliver Stone (writer)
