I have them all on DVD....so I should give them a watch. Might be like fight club where you pick up a bunch of stuff now that you know what happens at the end (ie: who tyler durden is).

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

its worth watching but it does tail off in the later seasons and the ending pissed a lot of people off.

theres about 120 fourty-four min episodes so its a committment... but it plays the mystery card extremely well.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

Just got back from seeing Safe starring Jason Statham. Awesome action flick with lots of tension and well-choreographed fight sequences. Really thought the little Chinese girl turned in a convincing performance as the vulnerable prodigy to be used by the competing groups too. Just the right length minutes-wise as well.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

Watched "The Grey" on Blu-Ray. Wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised -- better than most "survival" movies. Liam Neeson is awesome.

Would have loved to see him in a role as Bond. Daniel Craig was awesome but it sure would have given Bond a whole new dimension if Statham got a chance

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

still think clive owen would have been ideal but then if the rumours are correct he was offered it but didn't want it.

statham would have been interesting.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

Sacha Baron Cohen was on the Howard Stern show today. According to Cohen it was only the 3rd time he's ever been interviewed as himself. Great interview.

One extremely intriguing thing he said is that he might be playing Freddie Mercury in a movie about Queen. That could be awesome.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

I caught the tail end of it but I didnt recognize his voice at all until they mentioned The Dictator. And because of it I have the "Throw the Jew down the well" song stuck in my head all day

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

Haha yeah he was singing that at one point. You have to catch it on Friday, great interview. It was one of those great moment on the show when Howard has enough genuine respect for a guest to stay serious and Cohen is a big Howard fan and didn't get into any schtick.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

The Avengers was awesome.

I enjoyed it but there was far too gratuitous use of unnecessary CGI for my liking and it was difficult to ensure proper screen chemistry with such a large ensemble cast. I enjoyed the humor and action sequences (the Marvel universe would be a fragment of what it is sans Robert Downey Jr.), but felt that Hawkeye's integration was handled poorly and the plot fairly mediocre. Why should I care that those alien creatures want to destroy New York? Why was Loki being such a douchebag?

I don't know. It felt too cluttered for my liking. A good movie, but not worthy of the praise that it has received thus far. Definitely not on a Batman Begins or The Dark Knight type level.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

Sounds like you went into the movie with expectations that this would be a theatrical masterpiece, which it was never going to be, no one's suggesting its on par with more serious and well acted hero flicks like the recent Batmans...but as far as super hero movies go this one was pretty well done.

I admit that Nolan has warped my expectations and that is admittedly not entirely fair to Marvel, but they have always gone for a lighter, more "comic book" style that never appealed to me in the manner that DC's gritter, graphic novel universe does.

Re: OT: Recent Movies You've Seen

I am intrigued by Garfield and Stone's on-screen chemistry in the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man though. They look like they'll be convincing just based on the short snippets I've seen.
