not at all, but the books are pretty dang good, even though the author is a ****ing *******.

I watched :"Side Effects" last night. I really did not enjoy it. Soderbergh has always been my pick for most overrated director. I always find his films lack energy and feel very cold, with characters that are not that well developed. He should stop making so many and take more time developing them.

I liked his earlier films best. Films like Sex, Lies and Videotape, King of the Hill, and Kafka.

The last decade or so he just rushes so many mediocre films out.

I always thought the earlier films were overrated. I remember well all the hype around SLVT ... meh. Watchable but nothing memorable, for me at least.

Watched killing them softly. I think it tried to hard to be a Guy Ritchie/Tarrantino movie, but it was still entertaining.

Guy Ritchie wishes he was as talented a director as Andrew Dominik.

Lock/Stock, Snatch, RockNRolla are great movies. Ritchie's made some great stuff.

Absolutely, all incredibly entertaining movies, RocknRolla in particular is a personal favourite of mine.



....but none of them are the calibre of filmmaking that Dominik has demonstrated.

i'm not NOT a fan, but not a fanboy so to speak. i like certain aspects of the burton universe and dislike others... as for his movies, i really like beatlejuice and edward scissorhands, and am ambivalent about the rest.

ed woods is not a typical burton flick, though (dialogue is still weird - by centering around wood - but in a completely different way. more conventional sets, etc.) and it works so, so well.

I disagree. I'd take Richie's filmography.

I think that's part of what I appreciate most about it.....the balls it took for him to make it in the style he did, and then that he pulled it off so perfectly.

It manages to simultaneous work as a satire on Ed Wood films and their style, and a quality biopic.....it's kinda a shame he doesn't get more credit for just how damn well he pulled it all off.
