Speaking of Star Wars here is an improv filibuster from Parks and Recreation.

They should have done more of a back story on Darth Pelagius and Darth Sidious to start to the first pre-quel. I think that would have started the pre-quels off much better than what we ended up with.

I'm reading the Thrawn Triliogy now. I have a feeling they are going to take certain elements from these books and develop them into the movies.

Just read a pretty neat plot synopsis of this. Sounds right up my alley and I can't wait.

Don't spoil it if you can help it (I can't obviously...I live off of spoilers).

That would be good but why not go all the way back to Darth Bane, the one who started the rule of two?
 
now i know that the movie was widely considered a disappointment, and i think i recall a few around here saying as much. and before i say what i'm going to say i'll add this: i watched it from like 230-5 last night after a night of pretty heavy smoking and scotching w some buddies (winner of the night was a value picked: picked up a bottle of ltd ed dun bheagan 03. a ****in amazing 9 year scotch. it's only $50 for a bottle. spicy. if tha't syour think BUY IT it's the best valued single malt you can get right now imo. much, much better than anything in the 60-90 price point).

but the master ****ing sucked. what a shit movie.

i'm beginnin to think that pt anderson is horribly overrated and the only reason why he isn't considered as much is because three of the greatest actors alive today were in his past two movies and saved them from beign what they are... poorly envisioned films lacking plot development, devoid of characters you can connect with on any emotional levle (positively or negatively), with convoluted scripts and a lack of meaningful dialogue.

now if somebody here says i''m crazy for saying this then maybe i'll rewatch. though i kind of felt the same about there will be blood.
 
PT Anderson's Magnolia, Boogie Nights and There Will be Blood were truly awesome flicks. But The Master was mediocre and disappointing though Phoenix's performance was awesome.
 
The season finale of Dallas was great. John Ross says to Sue Ellen after she tells him to treat his wife right "do you think I'm a rogue momma"? Then next scene is off banging a woman who isn't his wife. Awesome.

I would agree with all of this. The Master was a mediocre film held up by two unbelievable performances.
 
Master was f*cking incredible.....been meaning to write up a proper review of it since Hoss asked ages ago, and keep meaning to rewatch it to do so. Will likely get around to it once finals are over. But this alone.....is one of the most brilliant shots in any film last year...
