Same here. I said it in the other thread, his mistakes are very much like Gardiner's. He turns over pucks when being pressured and all(and yeah in that game it was everyone)..but i'll take his speed and ability to get away from forwards(not to mention much better positioning) over guys like O'Byrne, Fraser, Kostka any day.

Well sure it does because we've had 4 of them this year and we've seen how that turned out. Hell three of them are playing hurt now and struggling a bit.

Every good team needs lots of good D. 5 is never enough.

well keep in mind that 1 of those 5 is a raw rookie who might not even crack the roster next year.

they could use help on the back end even with rielly. but there is also a very real possibility taht they head into next season without him.

I mean, if you're talking about landing another impact defenseman for a reasonable price, I'm all for it, but otherwise I'd worry about adding a legit two[way centre, myself.

Grrr..mbow, I hate you so much!haha...Ok fine..but i'd still have him over the other 3 as there's more positives than negatives in his game. Never been a big fan of guys who can't skate and when you also make bad decisions(like in Fraser and O'Byrne's case) it makes it that much worse.

boston also has two defensemen who are better in their own zone than anybody the leafs have..... one of whom is as good defensively as just about anybody, ever.

the leafs have one guy who can play on a shut down pair. they need another.

redden/mcquaid are the same fringe nhlers as the guys we've used.

but hey, we can go out and sign redden or mcquaid to be our #6 next year if you want.
 
Not fringe NHLers. The Leafs have been pluging their lineup with AHLers. Its like when they had guys like Sjostrom and Wallin up front.

You need a McClement/Komarov there.

I never said they need to go out and get the top free agent on the market. I said they need to add to the defense. They do.

I wouldn't make any major changes to this team. They are on the right track. Add some more quality depth, and maybe make a big splash if you can get your "Hossa".
 
Your strategy can't just be "oh well that guy only has to play 12 minutes when we are fully healthy so who cares who it is. They'll never hurt us." (See: Komi, Lebda, Finger, Exelby, Fraser, O'Byrne, etc.)

I'd kill for the Leafs lineup at this point.

The Leafs have played Boston very hard and should be at least 2-2. I don't see why there are so many complaints about the team.

I don't think there are too many complaints on here..Most agree that a few minor changes need to be made.

I still think this is going 7 games.
