This game looks crazy good.

Re: OT - Fanboy fight: XBox 360 V PS3

Anyone here picking up the last of us??

I want that and I think I really want to play Splinter Cell's Black list. I saw a demo of that and was hyped a long time ago.

My pre order should be arriving tomorrow.

By the way MS has confirmed themselves repeatedly the once every 24 hrs connection, and the restrictions on lending/trading in games are true. These points are no longer rumours or speculation. They released a statement on their website 2 or 3 days before the start of E3.

Likely going to buy The Last of Us.

Haven't bought a game in ages, but anything that gets straight up 10's in reviews is likely worth a play.

I like what Naughty Dog does as Uncharted 2 was amazing and I just finished Tomb Raider. Pick that up if you get a chance as u can pick it up for about 30 bucks now and it's in the same genre.

I agree, but the gauntlet has been thrown... MS has time to rethink their decisions or die trying to hold on... This literally could be the move that kills the company. Let's see if they show the stubborness that Apple showed in the 90's that almost killed them. Almost

a niche market will not kill microsoft (unless you just mean the console gaming part of the company)

Wii actually did a lot better than the two big boys. The innovation and making games for old people is what made them successful.

Boxer8 is due to release the OUYA in June 2013.

I am pretty curious about this.

Re: OT - Fanboy fight: XBox 360 V PS3

Oh the Wii sold a ton, no doubt. People stopped using it or didn't by games. Myself, I haven't purchased a game for my Wii in about 3 years.

- "Active Users" who own an Xbox 360 or PS3 play them a lot more (nearly 2x as much) than people who own a Wii play on one.
- Of six consoles listed (PS2, PS3, 360, Xbox, Wii & GameCube), the Wii has the lowest percentage of active users, the shortest average playtime session, the lowest number of average daily play sessions and the second-lowest number of average days used per month (only the GameCube trails).
Nielsen: People May Buy Wiis, But Do They Use Them?

Old info, but I doubt the numbers changed dramatically

Re: OT - Fanboy fight: XBox 360 V PS3

The big thing that I think people are missing with having to be connected every 24 hours as well as them basically licensing the game to you and you don't actually own it, is that Microsoft can basically control the life of the system. With the original Xbox they stopped hosting games on their servers to play multiplayer a few years after the 360 came out. Now, that I think is completely okay to do as you can still go back and play the single player aspect of the games. But with them requiring you to be online to access their servers to play even the single player games, that should send up a big red flag to fans. For a hardcore gamer that likes to go back and play some of their old systems, this is a big issue. As a consumer, it should be an even bigger issue. It sets a ridiculous precedent that companies are gonna try to start to get away with this type of stuff. Think of this, you buy a game for 60.00, it's on your machine to play, then after say, 8 years, we no longer support this game on our servers. You cannot access the game that you bought, not just the multiplayer but even the single player. Now, I know that a lot of people will say, "well once they stop supporting the Xbox One in 8 years time, there will be another console out to buy". If you wanted to go back and play those other games that were on the Xbox One, what do you think you'll have to do? Your more than likely gonna have to re-buy them as classics. Again, it's not just the issue of the used games and always being online. I think it's an ethical issue that fans and consumers are telling Microsoft that they shouldn't be allowed to get away with this type of business practice. It basically puts Microsoft in a position for them to already have their hands around a consumer's throat to force them to upgrade, whenever they want to.

On top of all of that. Microsoft said last night that they won't comment, when they were asked if you would be able to sell the Xbox One second hand if you wanted to. It's night and day difference between the two companies. There is absolutely no reason why Microsoft needs to do this other than them wanting more profit and to control what you can buy for their systems. They are trying to **** with the gaming industry, one that has been exactly the same way for home consoles for 30+ years and an industry that has generated enough money/profit to bring games up to where they are now.

Complete ****ing greed.

Sure but that is a different debate.

I personally play PS3 and Wii (now Wii U) about the same while the xbox gathers dust.

What is impressive is that Nintendo was pretty much dead. Wii saved them. They decided against trying to go head to head with sony/microsoft and went after the young (kids) and old (40+) people.

Price was huge and old people have jobs, kids, grandkids to look after, etc. Less time.

It actually makes perfect sense.

I have never bought a 'standard' game for Wii.

Windows. Case closed.

Microsoft will begin backpeddling soon on some of these issues. They are being killed. And that was before the $100 difference in prices was announced.
