OT: American Politics

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

It's certainly not a fact that police officers want to advertise, and who can blame them? After all, HabsAddict incorrectly thought the opposite and was adamant about it.

I can only imagine that many other ignorant people in the population think the same and that plays a role in protecting police from potential attacks.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

I understand completely why not want it posted but Addict looks ridiculous for saying, I asked, got my answer but was asked not to post it. That has to mean it wasn't what he wanted because otherwise he would gladly tell us.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

I was listening to an ex cop being interviewed on the radio and he said having reviewed the video, pending extenuating circumstances, the situation was poorly handled by the police and specifically by one poorly trained officer.

Sure, but like I said, few can compete with Cumulus. Those regional stations don't have the market that Cumulus does. Their audience is shrinking.

Another chapter in the gas plant saga at the provincial level.

Amazing that these morons would actually consider bullying the Speaker to be a legitimate legislative strategy.

If Harper pulled this, you'd be able to see the smoke from the Star editors lighting their hair on fire from miles off.

Yeah, that's pretty bad. The only thing saving the Libs right now is that Hudak is an absolutely abysmal leader. He makes Paul Martin look like Jean Chretien in comparison.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

The Ontario Tories should be crushing the polls right now. The fact that they aren't shows how much of a weakness their leader is.

Well, we get to see if Wynne is much better on Thursday. Five tests of her leadership. Five ridings formerly held by senior Liberal ministers.

We'll see what the score looks like Thursday night.

She's gonna lose locally here. The candidate decided to skip two of the debates. I guess he doesn't care.

In regards to the kid who got shot.

The rules of society are pretty simple. When a cop tells you to put a weapon down, you put the damn weapon down. Cops aren't lawnjockeys. They're trained to subdue threats.

Subdue threats.......from a knife........from 20-30 feet......with nine rounds.

Got it.

It's not a negotiation. Officer tells you to put the weapon down, you put the weapon down. Period. Full stop.

There are no circumstances under which ignoring an order to disarm is 'more acceptable'.

I'd like to hear the circumstances that call for 9 bullets and a taser. In that order mind.

How many bullets would have been acceptable? 9 is too many? Fine. Would three have been acceptable? What about five?

Dead is dead. The number of bullets is a detail being played up by certain people for its shock value to a Canadian populace unaccustomed to police shootings. Unless it has been determined that the ninth bullet was the one that actually killed him, the number of bullets has no value to the discussion about the rightness of the act.

Re: OT: Canadian Politics

Given they were firing into a streetcar, I wouldn't be shocked if 8/9 bullets actually missed him.
