The New Division

Could have kept Alfredsson for starters.

Also could have used your "stacked cupboard" of youngsters to pry a big name from some team in cap trouble.

Clarkson is going to be a guy that rejuvenates the Battle of Ontario ala Tucker.

And we will be extremely happy that he is on our side, irrespective of his salary. Would be a nice fit on a soft as paper Sens team. Especially without the messiah Jared Cowan who is still unsigned!

Soft.

Heh.

Alfredsson's production was reduced due to playing with garbage last year. Bring back Spezza and co. and you will feel dumb about putting MacArthur and him in the same sentence.

Alfie will likely play in the Wings top-6. Macarthur the same in Ottawa.

I would be surprised if the two were separated by more than a few points at seasons end.

Holy shit. I would've loved to have seen what you would've said to MacArthur = Alfie at any point last season.
Alfie has the intangibles - and the captaincy.

But their production has been very similar over the past two years. With Alfie entering his 41st year, I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen again.

Amazing that some people could make this claim. Detroit almost beat the Cup champions (deflection goal in OT of Game 7). Meanwhile, the Senators were trounced by a team that proceeded to get embarrassed in the next round. It's not close...the Senators are pretenders, the Wings are the real deal. I'm happy that Alfie's moved on to a team that's serious about winning.

and the leafs were even closer to beating the other cup finalists.

clearly the leafs are also the real deal.

I noticed Alfie was being his usual douche self yesterday. Throwing Murray under the bus rather than just being a class act and move onto Detroit without bashing the franchise that he's been a part of for a couple decades.

You mean the midget, mediocre talents Conacher & Pageau?

I can't believe you people use them as proof that the Sens have a strong prospect base.

Rookie scoring:

1 Nail Yakupov - 48 GP, 17 G, 14 A, 31 PTS, -4
2 J. Huberdeau - 48 GP, 14 G, 17 A, 31 PTS, -15
3 C. Conacher - 47 GP, 11 G, 18 A, 29 PTS, +3

Why would anyone have any kind of optimism over that player?

or one that did:

1 Jean-Gabriel Pageau - 10 GP, 4 G, 2 A, 6 PTS, +4

in the playoffs?

Crazy.
