The New Division

Its weird...imagine a rookie getting traded to a new team and needing to learn a new system and trying to fit in with linemates he's never played with before.

After a full camp, and a real season, we'll be in a much better place to judge Conacher.

Yeah he's small. We all know it. The only guy that doesn't know it is Conacher himself.

I think he's going to be a pretty good player.
 
I'm not taking the split at all. I'm saying you cn ignore his play in Tampa altogether of you want and his play in the AHL and some of what I saw last year leads me to believe he's capable of being a 50 point player in the NHL.
 
I know you're not taking the split. You only take the split for Anderson, or whenever else it makes you feel better.

You saw things that "lead you to believe he is capable of being a 50 point player"?

Than why the hell are you talking about him?

No one looks are their prospects and says "look how awesome they are, we have Clarke MacArthur and Martin Erat."

I think having a speedy player with a nose for the net that can be a stable 50 point guy is an asset. Crazy me.
 
Writing off Zibanejad is going to make alot of people look stupid around here.

I have no love for Pageau. Rail all you want on that one.
 
Zibanajad is a guy worth talking about. He's not a high end offense guy, but he should be a really solid top 6 forward.

Guys like Conacher and Pageau though? Who cares.
 
Zibanejad is a really good young player. I just question his offensive upside at the high end of things - he reminds me more of a poor man's Mikko Koivu with his two-way play and defensive awareness/chippiness.

Pageau did not stink in the AHL at all.

If you consider that A) He was a rookie, B) There was an NHL lockout and C) That he was way down the depth chart, you'd have some kind of clue, but I guess it is easier to look at the numbers of a guy you've barely seen (if ever) in a league that you never watch to judge his potential.

The truth is, he was an offense first guy that played defense well enough to have his coach (Luke Richardson, used to play in the NHL for the Leafs) put him at the top of the NHL call up list when Murray called down to ask who was ready.

Then he played pretty damn well in the NHL and in the playoffs.
