And that's fair, his AHL numbers are very solid. The bit that would concern me though, is his lack of size, lack of elite speed to make up for his lack of size and his position.

It's not that I don't think he has "a chance", any kid with a ppg AHL season as a 21 yr old is intriguing, it's that I wouldn't be considering him to be a lock for the lineup going forward, nevermind being the type of prospect that lends credence to any sort of talk about Ottawa's system being stocked with top prospects.
 
Conacher's speed is fine...

He's no Corey Locke. Dude has speed to burn and he is tough as nails.

Kind of like a Darcy Tucker, except with talent.
 
Yeah, I have no qualms with Zbad. I question his offensive upside beyond that of a 2nd line centre, fringey 1st line centre (55-60 points), but he's a nice player overall. Pretty much the ideal 2nd line centre to have behind Spezza, as long as Spezza's back allows him to remain an elite 1st line centre.

Size is still overrated in this NHL. Again, if I was arguing that he had 70 point potential then you would have an argument, but I'm not.

Despite his size, he has all of the other tools that could lead him to be a solid 25/25 guy.

He's also not my first choice if I am going to try and pump up the Sens prospect pool.
 
I have no new info on him, i haven't seen him around this summer. I think your observations are pretty good but with the right linemates he could be a 30 goal scorer. I wouldn't call him tough but he is a feisty little fu*ker with the ability to get under peoples skin easily. From what i can tell he is very happy in ottawa the only two cities where he may prefer to play are toronto and buffalo (close to home and close to former university)

Honestly, it's not. You don't need to be huge to play in the NHL, but if you're going to be flat out small, you need to make up for it in other ways. Basically, if you're small and can be a legit top 6 forward, you're fine. If you're small and don't have that skill level, you may very well be destined to be an AHL all star for the next 10 years.

Problem is, a little guy who has a down season of 17/38, of even a kid who falls short of that 25/25 to put up 20/40 in a top 6 role, will have a hard time hanging onto his job. You just lose too many puck battles as a winger of that size that only a small handful ever manage to carve out roles outside of the top 6 without something resembling average size.

He's also not my first choice if I am going to try and pump up the Sens prospect pool.
