So what do you think is the more likely reason?

I find it unlikely that random variance can be the most likely reason for such a huge difference in the teams preformance in afternoon games vs evening games.

When you consider that teams/players are so routine oriented, an afternoon game is more than just a different start time. The whole day is different.

US teams play more afternoon games than others because of their NBC TV deal. Boston/Detroit/Rangers/Pittsburgh are almost always playing a Saturday/Sunday afternoon game.

I'm not referring to historical numbers - I'm referring to this year and perhaps last year (the rosters are very similar).

I think there is something different about how the team gets the players ready and prepared for these games.

You also don't see other Canadian teams playing the same amount of afternoon affairs. The Leafs play virtually none. Their routine/schedule never changes.

But clearly there is something missing from the teams preparation that has led to 1 win in 10 games.

Damn you are a drama queen sometimes.

I'm not making an excuse, I'm angry at the team for not being ready for these games and losing as a result. It's not on anyone elses shoulders but the coaches and players.
