I'm pretty sure that boy is gonna have some serious skating skills and be positionally sound no matter where he plays. I'm sure you're thrilled.
All I've been doing this summer aside from work is battling some kidney stones. I gotta say it has been more painful than anything else I've had to deal with. OUCH.

I never post, but I DID do something cool recently that I thought I'd share for the benefit of any bluegrass and/or classic country music fans.
My wife and I took a quick trip to Nashville last week, the highlights of which were seeing Sarah McLachlan at the Ryman and the “New Monday” show The Station Inn. If you like bluegrass or classic country and you’re ever in Nashville on a Monday evening, you’ve got to stop by The Station Inn, Nashville's one true bluegrass club. Every week, the "New Monday" show features bluegrass legends Carl Jackson & Larry Cordle, along with a great singer named Val Storey. They have a semi-regular cast of sidemen/women, including a remarkable steel guitar player named Doug Jernigan. They play a mix of their own originals, like “Highway 40 Blues” (Cordle), “Lonesome Dove” (Jackson) and covers of classic country and bluegrass standards.
At the end of the evening they invite up friends/guests who dropped by, and I got to see one of my favorite singers sing one of my favorite songs – Paul Brewster (guitar/harmony vocals for The Osborne Brothers, Ricky Skaggs) sang Bill Monroe's “Kentucky Waltz”. You can find lots of other clips from previous shows by searching "Station Inn Carl Jackson" on YouTube. Not to be missed if you're into that kind of thing.

Like last year, I'll be at both days of Wide Open Bluegrass. Its worth taking the day off work for. Looking forward to catching a performance of Swift Creek.
Looks like most notable stuff means getting away. I am a contrarian in the sense of I have traveled my whole life. I am learning how to take care of all the fruit trees, and such, on my property including loquat, ornamental pear, grapes, peaches, fig, walnut, black berry, tangerine, maple, and some that I have not figured out what they are yet. Chickens, cats, dogs now too. Looking forward to more animals but we have to pause and learn how to take proper care of said fruity stuff. I am also interested in mini moos for the future. Seems like a great time to rebuild , or just build, something.

Seemed notable to me, unless I am missing something.? There is always work stuff. Went to school on the SAAB 340 and the Airbus 320 of which Captain "Sully" Sullenberger landed in the Hudson. Maybe all this sounds boring like the people who post on facebook and explain every moment of there day. That was not my intention.

Is there any treament for those web worm nests in nut trees? We have one pecan tree in our yard and every year gets 3-4 of those nests. I cut out the ones I can reach, but some are up to high to get.

I am still learning, and the first thing people told me was to use a long stick too. LOL. Pecan trees are way up there and if you do not have your own lift you pretty much have to call an expert. I have finally met some pecan growers and even they say I should go to the county extension who will do my soil samples and give advice for free. I have also been given the name of a tree man who as a lift and works by the hour. I was hoping all these trees would just take care of themselves. lol
Lots of travel, but mainly to our camper on the New River near Topsail. Finally got the boat fixed after two years of disrepair, so now we can enjoy the ICW and sandbar.
We are taking the twins on their first plane ride in October to the Dominican Republic for a weeks vacation. They are super excited. Me not so much as I don't like flying.
A side note: Forget the cliche Caribbean Vacation spots. Go to the DR. They have made incredible improvements to the infrastructure and the resorts are amazing for the price. I've been all over the Caribbean and this is my second favorite so far overall (Aruba #1, but pricey), and #1 in terms of quality for price. It's getting more popular so it's not as cheap as it used to be, but the resorts are still fantastic. Riviera Maya may be the only place close to the quality for price (that I've been to anyway).
