GDT - Third time's the chime | 7:30PM SNET

If we had a better team we'd win the cup.
That's dumb, even for you.

there are games where goaltending is not your problem, and there are games where even with better goaltending you may not win the game, but last night's game, as LOF said, was clearly one where goaltending was a problem for us and to lose a 1 goal game in OTL, the statement LOF and I made were clearly valid.

I'm not saying your point wasn't valid. Its been a pretty consistent statement when thinking of this team: "if we were better..."

It sucks. There is always something.

Every team in the league can stand to improve in some way. This team hasn't.

I just want a good team dammit.

Both of our goalies are in the bottom of the list for save percentage and GAA. They've both sucked.

We need one of them to raise their game if we want to stay afloat.

In fairness, we've stayed afloat already with disappointing goaltending. If were were receiving good goaltending (by the standards of the two we have in house), we'd be doing more than staying afloat.

.915 sv% for a guy that is not playing well is still pretty decent.

I am fairly confident Bernier will be .920+ by the end of the season

.915 sounds good until you look at the rest of the league, its at the bottom.

All I am saying is that its a reason we are at best a bubble team at the moment. If we want in he needs to be that .92+ we are expecting

Maybe the only problem is that Bernier sucks?

We should've won that one.

He doesn't always suck, but that game he did. He's had many slow starts in games this season. Not a good trend.
But even worse is Carlyle's loyalty to him. He will start Bernier every single chance he gets, no matter how soft he was the last time he started. Bad for Reimer; bad for the team as a whole. We already have a team that loses it's steam too easily when they're behind in a game. Always starting Bernier, who's lately been letting in quick soft goals to start off games, doesn't help us.
Randy needs to have more faith in Reimer, and less in Bernier. We have a solid tandem of goalies here, who could, and should, be splitting more of the games.
I can't wait for Carlyle to be gone so that Reimer can have a better chance.

We just can't go on with keeping both these goalies. They're both worse than they would be if one was the true #1.

And I still think Reimer is the keeper.

I'd love to trade bernier, franson, and a prospect to Edmonton for a young forward and hand the reigns to reimer.

So Eberle or Yak because that is all Edmonton is giving up from their young forwards.

And that's a big no to both for that package.

Can you please post something that doesn't end up with a fire Carlyle rant? It's overkill dude

Told you ME, there still are people who feel Reimer should be the goalie, despite the results.

Weird.

I mean, I like the dude and think he can be a solid NHL goalie, and at his best has shown the ability to be a top 10 starter...but the results speak for themselves at this point.

I know Reimer's not perfect and has holes to his game, much like any goalie, but I'm equally mystified as to why Bernier has apparently proven himself as a #1 in so many people's eyes here. He's been alright during his time here, and has had long, unspectacular stretches, and flat out ugly games.

Only one of the two goalies has proven himself as a capable, game-stealing player over his time here. And really, he was only derailed by the Bernier acquisition itself, as a resounding vote of non-confidence from management two years ago after the best season we've seen any Leaf goalie produce, including an amazing performance in the playoffs.
