GDT: Leafs @ Sens (7:00 PM, SN)

Yup. Pretty much.

I think there's a good chance Nonis is gone when we return from the break, with Shanahan and Dubas formally taking over.

And if we don't come out absolutely on fire after the break, start the fire sale.

At least there will be some good trades for the first time in two years to get mildly excited about.

Not sure trading multiple players when they are playing like crap is the way to maximize value. Be prepared to be underwhelmed.

If GMs out there are as hot and cold as fans, you're right.

They should see all our guys as junk and not want to pay anything for them.

But if they realize that there is a fishbowl here, and management has dumped toxins into the fishbowl lately, they won't let it impact their judgment on a particular player.

Does anyone thing that Santo isn't a great depth player? That Winnik isn't a top PKer? That Franson isn't a young, huge, right hand shot PP quarterback? Of course not.

What do you think Kessel's reputation is around the league, build around guy or complimentary piece?

Not really the point. Paying Kessel 8 million isn't what's stopping the Leafs from surrounding him with the talent to win, the sheer difficulty of obtaining that kind of talent is. If we had a Toews, we could still pay a Kessel 8 million. They're paying Kane 10.5...

Kane and Toews and Crosby need players around them. Kessel is an incredible hockey player. But without a healthy Lupul its tough on him. Sundin all over again. Too much attentiion. And then the media waiting for him after checkers all night? Too much. Give the guy a break, who else can score like him?

I actually think he has given it a big effort ever since he came here, but just very recently has said to himself, why do I even bother? Up till recently, the guy performed, big time. And gave us some circus as well. Its too bad Lupul is so injury prone, cause he gave us a really nice alternative scoring piece beside the occasional effort by the uber talented JVR.

Phil Kessel if a better player than anyone on the SENS, that much I know. But he is a genius and would like to see a bit more genius around him I imagine.

Was at last nights game for a date - good time despite the win.

That 2nd goal was a classic example of a Montreal typical no-goal. Anderson was impeded from challenging the shot. I WANT those to be goals, but that's the kind of thing that I've seen called back too often.

3rd goal was a joke. Terrible rebound.

Sensfan comes to a Leafs board to comment on a game that his team won, and all he can do is complain about two of the goals against...

Kessel has secured his reputation as someone you don't build around. His contract says he needs to be that kind of player.

... in Sensfan opinion... which nobody here cares about.
I still remember the discussion about how Sundin wasn't someone a team should be built around either. How'd that work out for you?
