OT: Movies/TV Shows

Watched The Martian over the weekend and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I think it's the best movie thus far in 2015, but obviously in coming months we've got the new Bond movie and Star Wars coming up ... but Martian is very successful largely because of Damon's acting and basically get you to whole-heartedly root for Damon's character Mark (or Marcus). Movie's not without flaws but I enjoyed it more than any other movies I saw this year.

I saw what I think was episode 1 of a new show last night...Mr. Robot with Christian Slater and someone named Rami Malek.

Was pretty good.

It's a pretty solid show... although I only watched the first 5 or 6 episodes and still have the rest of the season waiting but I haven't been in a hurry to watch it.

Me too. Nothing not to like about it either - well written, good acting. Just in no hurry for some reason.

..also saw The Martian a couple of weeks ago. Worth a look.

It's weird eh? I'm not sure if it's that the show lost my interest or if just so many other great shows and hockey are getting in the way.

I've heard nothing but great things about Mr. Robot.

I watched the first few episodes but wasn't paying enough attention, so I decided I'd start over... guess I'm in the same boat, because I haven't done that yet.

I started to watch Mr. Robot and found it just Okay. I stopped watching when some other shows came on that interested me more.

This Guy Just Changed The Way We See Star Wars. Mind Blown.

The following mind-blowing theory comes from genius Reddit user Lampawarroo, whose careful research and masterful insight brings us what may be the greatest Star Wars theory ever conceived...

Here I will seek to establish that Jar Jar Binks, far from being simply the bumbling idiot he portrays himself as, is in fact a highly skilled force user in terms of martial ability and mind control.

Furthermore, I assert that he was not, as many people assume, just an unwitting political tool manipulated by Palpatine-- rather, he and Palpatine were likely in collaboration from the very beginning, and it's entirely possible that Palpatine was a subordinate underling to Binks throughout both trilogies.

And finally, given the above, I will conclude with an argument as to why I believe it is not only possible, but plausible that Jar Jar will make a profound impact on the upcoming movies, and what his role may be.

So....he's a virgin.

Just finished the 1st season of Fargo, and you were correct, brilliant.

Love when the narrative just sort of pauses for someone to tell a story - like the chief with his African kid, or Grimly's neighbour with the story of the man who gave everything. Adds a tremendous amount to the show.

If the new Twin Peaks could capture this sort of tone, plus some added surrealism, I'll be in heaven. Actually I would say this Fargo owes a lot to Twin Peaks.
