Updates and Rumours from around the League

I don't see Tampa as a good trading partner with us unless we are moving JVR to them. I don't see that happening.

This could be a top 6 winger the Habs are looking for after the failures of Semin and Kassian.

Things looked so good a year ago in Tampa. Now it's turning into a mess.

The Leafs should just draft their own good young talent. He'll come way to expensive in terms of a trade.

He had a strong rookie season as a 19 year old playing very very very limited minutes. Will he be a 1st liner? The jury is still out on that, but I'd say he's a pretty safe bet to be a top six forward. I agree that there is some risk in overpaying for him though.

He is 20 year old and has scored 40 points in the NHL in 89 games despite not playing mucg. And 3 points in 2 games in the AHL, after back to back to two point per game paces in the Q. "Looked like a bust" is a stretch.

Its the same reason we still wanted Reilly after him struggling in the NHL at 19. He is really young and talented, and will likely be a really good player for a long time.

You don't know the price to whether it's "a lot"...would think his value just dropped a bit with the leak of him asking to be traded.

If it costs Pitts first rounder + not one of our top prospects + veteran...would listen. Or maybe it's taking a bad contract...could live with that to get talent.

The Leafs should definitely try to put a package together for him.

We've got plenty of trade chips of all different types, so it makes sense to at least see what the price would be.

They got a shit load for St. Louis after he requested a trade to one specific team. I don't know about this decreasing his value all that much, if at all. Think about it - all other 29 teams know he's on the market. You know there will be at least one team that overpays.

Too many teams will be calling for the price to be low. He's too young and drafted way too high for Tampa to not get a shitload in return.

He is talented. I'd have no problem if Shanahan and co decided he's a guy we should target. For whatever reason it isn't working out in Tampa for the guy but i don't see us as being great trading partners.

Though besides Marner and Nylander i don't really care who we'd move for him from our prospect pool.

A deal that makes a lot of sense is some kind of Johansen/Drouin swap. Swap headaches and not lose out on talent. Just have to make the cap work.
