Leafs acquire Frederik Anderson from Ducks

He didn't make it up, but IMO they show exactly why Anderson is better than Reimer and Bernier. Reimer and Bernier are all over the map. Andersen has been consistently good. There are lots of goalies out there that do what Reimer and Bernier do. Those consistent ones seem to be hard to find.

You can't have a goalie that you never know whether they will have a .925 or a .900 season.

One aspect that people are ignoring is that Andersen is on the wrong side of his 20's but thankfully not 30. Goaltenders experience a 10% growth rate per year from age 25-30, but then fall off 5.23% every year until 35 where they then rotate a 2% bump and drop until 40 when they likely become goalie coaches. Anderson rates well with blocker and glove reactionary skills, but his pad work needs work for lack of a better term. Rebounds exit his pads at a 40% north south angle, that's not near enough east west to sustain a strong rebound control, especially in the eastern conference where Swedes outnumber Fins 4 to 1. All in all i think the Leafs paid too much, at the same time, not sure the Ducks got enough. Every value chart i could locate in my attic is inconclusive to the matter.
 
Kinda bummed that, as of right now, our first round excitement ends after the very first pick.

I was looking forward to seeing them either trade up or use the 30th, which was a nice bookend to keep the whole first round interesting.

Really hoping we grab another 1st rounder, at a reasonable cost.

Maybe if you eat some of his cap hit, but we can only do that twice in a season, so they may not want to empty that bullet from the chamber at this early stage. So, I suspect he sticks with us for this season, but ends up taking his naps on the bench for the most part.

Yep. We may be able to unload him at the TDL though, if he plays well in his 5 games.

That's a fair point. Also agree that his unprovenness is the biggest concern given the term.
 
Having slept on it I'm excited to say we have our goalie, he might be great, and move on.

I can compartmentalize the bust potential, seems low to me.
 
Something that has gone unmentioned, is what Anderson is going to do to the mind-set of the 5 guys in front of him.
No one is going to convince me in any shape of form that the players on this team had any f***ing confidence in Bernier !!
All those soft goals withing the first 2-3 shots of a game can kill your team psyche.
 
Mentioned earlier as well but this may very well be the flag to Stamkos to show that we plan to better faster than most people think

With Andersen now on $5M/year, his performance this season lines up fairly neatly with the average of his new peers.
