Habs trade PK Subban to Predators for Shea Weber

Grunge is crap anyway. Don't know why anyone cares. Just a bunch of guys who looked like they were allergic to soap, water or any concept of personal grooming taking the stage as though they just got off a shift at the gas station. No showmanship whatsoever. Lyrics mumbled into the mic so as to be incoherent accompanied by a wailing and screeching cacophony of guitars.

Of course, what took over from grunge was even worse: hip-hop.

I am so sorry that Poison did not get as much air play after grunge.

"Rap music is the only vital form of music introduced since punk rock." - Cobain

I grew up in the 70s and 80s, but I don't know how someone cannot be mesmerized by the guitar rifts in a song like "Come as you are" or "All Apologies". Somehow the guitars sound a bit off tune or purposely detuned...but it was a great new sound. Not necessarily a new trick, but presented a different way.

really it was the energy and lyrics that attracted me to it

The guitar riff from "Come as you are" was plagiarized from Killing Joke's "Eighties". Killing Joke even sued Nirvana for doing it.

I hated it at the time as I was into metal and prog-rock so Grunge was way too "simple" for my teenage tastes. My horizons have greatly widen since.

I was a bit too young at the time to really be pro or anti grunge. I basically listened to what my older brother did. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, etc. It was later in life I looked deeper into grunge. It was actually because I liked the song that was "where do bad folks go when they die" but I could not remember the song (those days you would just listen to the entire tape) so I started listening to all the nirvana and was like "oh I love this song but this isn't it" - finally I found Lake of Fire.

Yeah I love that song, so much better than the Meat Puppets. And actually I feel that Unplugged is probably the best Nirvana album. There is some great covers on it.

If only PK had been invited by Team Canada -- then the story would have legs. We'll have to wait for Shea's first bad game in Mtl or PK's first standout with Nashville

Pearl Jam is able to still sell out arenas world-wide, Chris Cornell does an amazing one man acoustic show (well two man with a cello player).

Despite having no "showmanship", these guys are still quite successful.

I think PK will have a hard time coming to terms with the fact he's not really a celebrity in Nashville.

I'm sure many fans will miss him in Montreal but I bet PK will miss Montreal more and the mega star treatment he was used to here.

Most people in Nashville don't consider hockey players as celebrities.

Isn't that reason 1A for acquiring Subban by the Preds? If anyone can put hockey on the map in college/high school football land, it'll be PK - if he can't do it no one else in the NHL can. Poile has never hidden business being as important a driver in the Subban acquisition with the flair to his game & flamboyant personality.

The fact no one cares about hockey in all these US markets is why so many NHL'ers (especially Canadians) are so eager to play there in peace & quiet.

That's a bullshit survey, PK still hasn't played a game for the Preds. Casual fans don't really follow trades that much. Let's try that survey again in a year and see the difference.

I'm not denying that they hope PK can bring the Preds more visibility in a market dominated by the country music industry and football...what I'm saying is how will PK feel going from A list star in Montreal to more of a C lister in Nashville? I'm sure he's thinking that this will be a challenge to increase his brand.

I find it a shame that a guy like this doesn't play in a big market like NY, LA, Toronto....I feel he's going to be less visible overall now.
