Around The League: 2016-17 Playoffs

forwards who PK played against the most in each series.

Toews
Tarasenko
Getzlaf
Malkin.

5v5 goals by those 4 with PK on the ice = 0

Defensive liability
I still find it bizarre that people lose their shit over a guy like PK turning the puck over while skating the puck out one out of like 50 times but Weber or other "defensive studs" can bang the puck off the boards to the opposition a couple times a game and nobody gives a shit.

People love to hate PK. It is amazing how fast the narrative can change.

PK on his way to possibly win a cup: What was Montreal/Berevin thinking? What a fun loving free spirit PK is! Will he winn Conn Smythe?

PK Loses in the final: Defensive liability, Team put a gag on him. Are they already tired of his antics? He shouldn't have pissed off Crosby.

I still love PK, but I am happy he didn't win the cup. Too soon. Too soon.

The quick whistle to cause the Nashville non goal was part of a plot against Nashville. Although they were a southern Bettman market which would seem to align the refs with them, the refs(league)felt it was more important to keep PK from winning the cup at all costs..... :couch

Nashville had all the PP's last night and a 5 on 3

They wanna harp on the early whistle fine but they couldn't cash in on a 5 on 3

Goal >>>>>>>> a pp

I don't get the point you're trying to make.

Yeah they have a beef about the whistle blowing too quickly but there was still a game to be played and they could have taken the lead if they can cash in on a 5 on 3.

I don't know, mistakes and blown calls happen on a weekly basis in the playoffs doesn't mean the rest of the game doesn't matter.

5 on 3 is quite an opportunity and Nashville blew it.

Yes, again, you just knew the lack of finish would come back to bite Nashville, especially after the 5 on 3.

Entertaining game last night.

They were also far from good on the road.

We all know that Rinne struggled but Roman Josi was also brutal in the games in Pitt.

From Freidman:

The six D who dressed for PIT in the Cup Final have never received a Norris vote. First time a champion has done it. The Canes in 06 also had a mediocre D.
Hopefully Bergevin follows Freedman on Twitter.

0 goals in the final two games of the series for Nashville. That's pretty much exactly the way the Habs would have lost too.

Obvi. But 4 PP's to 0? Including a weak retaliation call to gift them a 5 on 3?

Even if you count that goal... 1 goal in 2 games in the Stanley Cup final? You deserve to lose.

Non-issue. Sad excuse.

Not an excuse. Just saying a couple powerplays does not make up for missing a goal.

Both teams had shit pps in the series
Both teams were shit all.series

No one ever said it makes up for a goal, but a 5 on 3 is a golden chance to score a goal and Nashville choked on that one.

It is old school vs new school

I think the ref knew he blew the whistle early and they went out of their way to make up for it by calling nothing against the Preds and making some less than obvious calls against the Pens... and fair enough.

The Preds have a legit gripe about the no goal... but once the mistake was made there was no recourse. All team have had these bad breaks... unfortunately for the Preds in happened in game 6 of the finals.

The ref's don't "owe" them anything. I think that is what annoys me. The official was out of position, lost sight of the puck, blew the whistle. It's a rule. If the expectation is that an official is PERFECT, then the expectation is unrealistic. Players make mistakes, so do refs.

Nashville should have put their big boy pants on and scored another goal. Crying that you lost the Stanley Cup because of 1 call when you score 0 goals in 2 games despite a glaring PP advantage, AND needed to score 1 more goal to win that game AND plus win another game is pie in the sky.

Yup, that was brought up a couple of times with regards to a make up call....5 on 3 in a game of this magnitude is rare and the Preds got one
