OT: Movies/TV Shows

I can see how Dunkirk wouldn't be for everybody, with the lack of diologue and sometimes slow-moving action.

I really liked it, though. It was beautifully shot, and just filled with tension all the way through the story.
 
I enjoyed Dunkirk - but regret not seeing it in IMAX. I couldn't help but think how awesome some of those beach shots would have been on a massive screen.
 
Watched Blade Runner (the new one ... 2049 or whatever) and thought it was vastly overrated im IMDB. 8.2? More like a 7-7.5 to me. It's a decent sci-fi flick, but more like a good one than a great one. And also feel the movie should be ~ 20 min shorter than it is.

You're kinder than Ridley Scott (who also wrote most of the thing). He thought it was a half-hour too long. I agree. Beautiful art film/blockbuster hybrid. But I didn't find the story amazing.

btw, I don't consider an 8.2/10 film to be vastly overrated if your take is 7.5.

Yeah, the last two episodes have been pretty fantastic.

Though I have to admit (highlight for spoilers), I'll be pretty disappointed if Jason Isaacs (Lorca) is gone for good, as he's been one of my favourite parts of the show. I guess the door is open for him to come back---Stamets did mention in the previous episode that nothing in the spore network is gone for good, so maybe Mirror Lorca getting dropped in there didn't kill him for good. Or there's also the possibility that the Prime Universe version of Lorca might show up at some point. I also assume that, with the crew having jumped nine months forward to a future where the Klingons conquered Starfleet, there's some more time travel hijinks to come, which could be another vehicle for bringing back people assumed to be dead.

I don't think they're done with the mycelial network yet. Though they will find a way to make it permanently unusable I'm sure. But stamets (and culber) at least will be using it still for a bit. Prime Lorca makes mucho sense to me. Then again, maybe Lorca is just Eddard Stark. And I was kind of hoping no time travel, and they'd have to make an epic comeback in the war with georgiou's (and the mirror discovery's) help. But then making that fit into the star trek history would be impossible. I dunno, but that was a shittonne of fun, and despite the griping geeks was chock full of legit star trek shit, from riding the spore wave to Suru's captain speech to Burnham's speech sparing Lorca. The Series still seems like it's in an introducion phase, but I think it's coming tgether.
 
Anyone ever watch Bates Motel? Started watching a few weeks ago with the gf. Gives me the creeps every time i watch it. The show is pretty good but some of the family stuff makes me cringe. Almost done season 2.
 
Is anybody clear where the Klingon Wars canon fits into this? (more than one war yes?), or just in general, how does Discovery work within the canonical universe?

Right off the bat, the Klingons do not look like any iteration we've seen. Do you guys feel like they are trying to fit it in? I don't really think they are.
