OT: American Politics

That it was actually at the bottom of the list they wrote. He made it sound like they had an actual list. If so I’m sure it was in jest.

Trump’s approach to trade is basically the same as asking people to join a suicide pact.

Corporate America got their tax cut, but are they really gonna let this shit go? Phoque me.

Chamber of commerce is starting an awareness campaign against the tariffs this week. They re usually right in the republican tank as well so this is something of a major departure for them.

I mentioned this earlier -- Koch bros are waging a multi-year, multi-million dollar campaign to promote the benefits of free trade and opposing tariffs.

Several states that voted for Donald Trump in the presidential election are likely to be among the hardest hit in the trade war the president has triggered, according to the nation’s largest business organization.

A detailed study by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce tracked the expected effects in each state of U.S. tariffs and retaliatory action against U.S. goods by China, European countries, Mexico and Canada.

Of the 10 states the U.S. Chamber of Commerce says will be hit the hardest by the tariffs, only California, Illinois and Washington voted against Trump in the presidential election. Louisiana, Texas, Alabama, Ohio, South Carolina, Michigan and Pennsylvania will all take major hits thanks to the trade policy of the man those states sent to the White House. Trump won Michigan and Pennsylvania by less than a single percentage point.

The number of exports that could be hit by retaliatory tariffs among the 10 most vulnerable states ranges from $1.7 billion in Pennsylvania to $6.2 billion in Washington.

“Tariffs are beginning to take a toll on American businesses, workers, farmers, and consumers as overseas markets close to American-made products and prices increase here at home,” U.S. Chamber of Commerce President Thomas Donohue said in a statement Monday. “Tariffs are simply taxes that raise prices for everyone.”

The traditionally GOP-friendly organization, which represents more than 3 million businesses, has launched a campaign against Trump’s tariffs, arguing that they have triggered a trade war that will cost U.S. jobs and will send consumer prices soaring.

And that is why you have to make it hurt for America to undertake these actions. When GOP friendly organizations start to lobby against the GOP president, that begins to get noticed.

When the states that the American president won start to get hit economically because of his actions(and Americans are not dumb, most articles show that people know who started this), that start to get noticed. The American president might not back down, but congress is probably hearing it from their constituents and they will be getting nervous.

Now that Harley-Davidson is moving part of its operation out of the U.S., my Administration is working with other Motor Cycle companies who want to move into the U.S. Harley customers are not happy with their move - sales are down 7% in 2017. The U.S. is where the Action is!

President Trump is indicating he just a few minutes ago learned about NSA self-reporting data deletion, which the agency publicly announced five days ago. He would have had access to a private and far more comprehensive briefing far earlier.

Why is the president tweeting about a four-day-old story about the NSA? Well, it was discussed on Lou Dobbs last night, he has a "super-Tivo," and his public schedule doesn't begin until lunch at 12:45:

Washington (CNN)A former House staffer who has been the subject of several tweets by President Donald Trump has struck a plea deal with prosecutors, pleading guilty to making a false statement on a bank loan application during a court appearance in Washington, DC, federal court Tuesday morning.

Trump tweeted last month that the Justice Department should not let Imran Awan "off the hook." Awan worked for Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida, a former Democratic National Committee chair, and other House Democrats as an IT specialist.

@realDonaldTrump
Our Justice Department must not let Awan & Debbie Wasserman Schultz off the hook. The Democrat I.T. scandal is a key to much of the corruption we see today. They want to make a “plea deal” to hide what is on their Server. Where is Server? Really bad!
11:07 AM - Jun 7, 2018

The government also acknowledged Tuesday there is no basis to claims that Awan stole information from the servers, or the servers themselves. The plea deal says: "The Government has uncovered no evidence that your client violated federal law with respect to the House computer system."

Prosecutors revealed that government investigators had interviewed 40 witnesses in connection with those allegations, had taken custody of the House Democratic caucus server and subsequently "found no evidence (Awan) illegally removed House data from the House network or from House Members' offices ... or improperly accessed or transferred government information, including classified or sensitive information."

While Awan's year-long court case revolved solely around bank fraud charges pertaining to an application for a home equity loan, conspiracy theorists have speculated wildly about the case. Blogs and conservative websites have circulated allegations that Awan was involved in the hack of the DNC computer systems in the run-up to the 2016 election and that he had stolen the Democrats' server and distributed sensitive information to the Pakistani government.

Trump has added fuel to those conspiracy theories. During an interview with The New York Times last December, the President asked: "Whatever happened to this Pakistani guy who worked with the DNC? ... With the two servers that they broke up into a million pieces?"

In April, the President again referred to Awan on Twitter: "Just heard the Campaign was sued by the Obstructionist Democrats. This can be good news in that we will now counter for the DNC Server that they refused to give to the FBI, the Debbie Wasserman Schultz Servers and Documents held by the Pakistani mystery man and Clinton Emails."

Awan's attorney called out the President's statements and tweets in a statement: "My client is not a 'spy,' nor part of a 'spy ring.' There has never been any missing server, smashed hard drives, blackmailed members of Congress, or breach of classified information. This was all made up, for purposes of clickbait, Fox News stories, and political opportunism. And yes, this repugnant behavior went straight to the top, just weeks ago, the President of the United States tweeted again alleging that Imran was responsible for a missing Democratic Party server. Like so many irresponsible, misleading or simply untrue tweets from the President, this allegation displayed a complete lack of respect for law enforcement."

Judge Tanya Chutkan will sentence Awan on August 21.

Awan was arrested last July as he attempted to board a flight for Pakistan, according to the legal documents.

It's weird, all the right wing conspiracy theories are turning out to be dogshit, and all the anti Trump conspiracy theories are producing charges and convictions.

After having written many best selling books, and somewhat priding myself on my ability to write, it should be noted that the Fake News constantly likes to pour over my tweets looking for a mistake. I capitalize certain words only for emphasis, not b/c they should be capitalized!

Too bad you can't fire POTUS because getting your info from tv news rather than your billion dollar intelligence underlings is a fireable offense.

President Donald Trump appeared to rely on a dubious Fox News report Tuesday morning to unleash an attack on his predecessor, accusing President Barack Obama, without any real evidence, of granting citizenship to 2,500 Iranians as part of nuclear deal negotiations.
"Just out that Obama Administration granted citizenship, during the terrible Iran Deal negotiation, to 2,500 Iranians - including to government officials," Trump tweeted. "How big (and bad) is that?"

Jeff Prescott, the former senior director on Obama's National Security Council, called Trump's allegation "absurd and entirely false.
