The story I heard is that they wanted him to play 3 days in a row in the minors, which he hadn't done until this week. Kind of sounds like had the games not been rained out last weekend, they might have brought him up for Tuesday.

Expectations are sky high, but I think I'd probably accept first ballot HOF as an outcome for Vlad Jr.
 
Vlad has a better stick than his pops had. Let that sink in. Jr has his dad's natural ability to barrel everything he swings at, while having an elite eye and patience at the plate. He'll never bring the defensive value his dad did though, and he might not age as gracefully unless he drops some weight.
 
Vlad 1.0 grew up in a family with barely enough money for food. Definitely self taught. JR grew up with abundance, so much greater access to coaching (hence the eye) but also unlimited access to calories.
 
I'm sure Vlady Jr will be fine. He's got some maturing to do but the talent is there. I have a feeling he'll take his fitness routine and dieting more serious as he gets older.

I'm so excited to see this kid play. Might watch some baseball again.
