2019 NHL Entry Draft

What is going on with these Halifax Moosehead players dropping.

Last year Zadina who was the consensus #3 for most of the year falls to #6 and now Lavoie is not even a first rounder.

Not sure. The team has had so many elite picks in recent years, I guess some go that way. Hischier, Ehlers, Meier, Drouin rose quckly in their draft year. Zadina and Lavoie may be perceived in some ways as a bit soft, but not sure its an accurate reading or problematic.

Apparently I’m not the only one that thinks he’ll be a bust.

Yeah he’s definitely worth a second but I seriously doubt he’s there when the Habs pick.

So the Habs didn’t tank and still ended up with a kid with elite talent. Any chance the whiners we read all year will stop now?

Yeah, I wasn't really vocal about it... but I was disappointed that the Habs didn't go for the better draft position. If we would have been drafting 5th overall and took Caufield I'd have been pretty happy. All is good.

I’m surprised that Moritz Seider went so high.

It did help us get Caufield though.

Well I still can’t believe that Sal’s highly unlikely scenario actually occurred.
Further proof NHL is a monkey see monkey do league - had TBay won the Cup vs being brutally molested in the playoffs, Caufield would’ve likely gone top-5.

Now options are opening up for Habs - with KK, Poehling and Danault there’s C size down the middle. Wing size can be addressed via other avenues

Saw Lavoie play at least thirty games this year between the regular season, playoffs and Memorial Cup.

He's physically gifted and has the hockey sense of a lamppost.

In a league that is emphasizing smart play, he's likely going to continue to drop.

Think A-kost, only more so.

Second round wishlist... I'm assuming some of the players will gone by then, but here's hoping:

Alex Vlasic
Nicholas Robertson
Rees Jamieson

Will all be gone by 45, I safely assume. But after seeing Caufield & Krebs drop last night, I'll keep my hopes up.

More realistic possibilities:

Jordan Spence (Small, not great skating, but he does amazing things with the puck)
Simon Legaré (A lot of holes in his game, but super athletic, could develop into something)
Maxim Cajkovic (Skilled forward on a terrible team)

My Q bias for the year.
