OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

Superfan Nav Bhatia and Mayor John Tory pleading that the public leave Kawhi alone and let him enjoy the city. There’s been a website setup where fans can leave comments for him.

I believe this is coming from bandwagon fans. I truly believe that s true raptors fan would think it was cool he was at the restaurant but wouldn’t go out of their way to take his picture. Or rush him and crowd him at the Falls.

I'm getting worried about Kawhi. Not one sighting in the last 36 hours. IS OUR FUN GUY STILL ALIVE?

The only thing making me feel better when I consider the treatment of Kawhi over the last week or so is that literally every city in the US would be worse. He would have paparazzi in LA following him around, etc.

The difference between Toronto and LA is that instead of a social media picture of him in the Home Depot parking lot it would have been TMZ running up on him asking him questions. Instead of a picture of him at that Kawhactus Club, it would have been half a dozen photographers waiting for him to come outside. Toronto is acting unhinged by it's standards, but it's standards are way, way less intrusive than normal LA life would be for him.

Yeah, I don't think Kawhi is perturbed by any of this. If he was, I don't think he'd roam popular hangouts sporting his NB branded T-shirts.

Maybe I'm overly optimistic, but I'd handicap it at 80/20. It's really only down to us and the Clippers and geography is really the only thing the Clippers have going for it. The Clippers don't come with the same marketing/promotion machine the Lakers do, so they don't really offer the off the court revenue to bridge the gap. It really does make the most sense for a guy with a chronic leg injury to take the big ass 5 yr deal, and do exactly what it looks like he's doing with the cargo jet deal, use this uptick in notoriety to grab as much sponsorship money as Canada is capable of giving him.

I mean, there's "betting on yourself" and there's taking unnecessary risks with the financial future of his family. Take the 190 guaranteed, cash in on the short term sponsorship opportunities in Canada, and if the Raptors have to reboot in a couple of years, Masai will trade you to the major market you want to go to. Easily makes the most sense. His family (girlfriend & Uncle Dennis) appear to love the shit out of Toronto.

Exactly take the 190 and deal with it later . Its much easier when you got your coin and then pick your traded destination and we get assets in return .

Cousins turned down Sacramento money tore his tendon and now pissed away his biggest payday

He is a shell of his former self

Bottom line with steel balls Ujuri steering the ship we are in good hands in any scenario

It's not even bad.

That nav/Tory presser was an embarassment.

How dare you...be absolutely correct.

I do think Kawhi would be nuts to go. LA can only offer LA, not a chance to repeat here, take on the challenge of busting up LeBron in the finals, getting $50m more, letting the city love him to the point of giving him free everything anywhere anytime.

I mean, he can spends months of the offseason back in LA, and funny enough, he isn’t even doing that right now.
