you and mindz both were vindicated on the Casey front this year.

dude is a solid regular season coach, not so much come playoff time. but I will always have a lot of respect and gratitude for what he accomplished during his time here. he just wasn't getting us over any humps.
 
Watch the Laker fan reaction to Kawhi signing that deal with Cargo Jet today....****ing beautiful. They've been such smug ****s about this, way worse than Clippers fans. They seemed to feel entitled to Kawhi coming to the Lakers. It all came crashing down today and it was wonderful.

I'm 80% sure Kawhi stays but if I thought otherwise, the CargoJet deal wouldn't sway me. I would spin it as CargoJet needs a California ambassador.
 
Why would this one sponsorship deal mean anything one way or the other?

He’s a legend in Toronto regardless of where he ends up now. He still has value to Canadian sponsors.

Maybe, but a quick peak at their website shows zero California exposure. They only operate out of Atlanta, Chicago, NYC, Detroit, & Newark. This could be part of expansion into California I guess, but that's a hell of a leap without having any business support in the Western US.

I had to stop listening to the Back to Back podcast on The Athletic. They give Toronto zero chance. Because weather.

They're mostly a cargo carrier, there isn't a ton of value in Kawhi's image for them with the public (they're mostly B2B), especially if he's gone. They're a company that is heavily connected to the Raptors though. But they would be a pretty natural fit for Kawhi if he was going to stay.

Same shit was said after the trade, claming that he wouldn't even report to Toronto....because it's cold. Nobody ever says that shit about NYC, Brooklyn, Boston or Chicago though.

Even if Kawhi stays, and the Raptors are the defending champs...what are the odds they still don’t get into a Christmas Day game?

The fact that he legitimately had players, coaches & management of the 76ers and Bucks preoccupied with him during 2nd & 3rd round playoff series has definitely elevated him in my books.

And while I don’t really listen to his music (or hip-hop in general), I do appreciate that he’s never shied away from repping his hometown.

I'm going to be bold and say 0%. The NBA finals ratings had to be an eye opener for Silver. Game 6 did 18.2 million in the US (and another 7.7 in Canada) versus 18.5 for the clinch game in 2018. We're hardly a ratings juggernaut or anything in the US, but we're clearly not a drag on ratings either with the right opponent. Give the Raptors Lebron & AD for the Christmas game in Toronto and the ratings would be legit.

I only **** with #4. He drops just enough of it to keep me on board.
