OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

Things I Learned: Dikembe Mutumbo's nephew is Canadian...and from Burlington.

He's also the 27th overall. 4th Canadian drafted in the 1st. Getting traded to the Clippers.

I would like to se me Dort picked at 59. Personally think he could be a fringe player which would be a surprise at 59

After questionably being suspended by the NCAA for the entire 2018-19 season Dewan Hernandez’s performance at the NBA Combine has seen his Draft stock skyrocket this week.

Dewan Hernandez has been in Chicago all week to show he still has the skills and game to be selected in next month’s NBA Draft. The former Miami basketball center has worked hard on his game in the last year despite not playing in an official game in 14 months. Hernandez began his week at the NBA G-league elite camp.

Hernandez is one of ten players from the G-League Elite Camp that was selected to participate in the NBA Combine that began on Thursday. Hernandez was in the top three centers in all five of the drills he participated in. He did not finish as high in the measurements. Hernandez is showing what he can door on the floor.

Dewan Hernandez combine measurements

- BODY FAT % 6.10% (Third Lowest among centers)
- HAND LENGTH (INCHES) 9.50 (second)
- HAND WIDTH (INCHES) 10.25 (third)
- HEIGHT W/O SHOES 6′ 9” (sixth)
- HEIGHT W/ SHOES 6′ 10.25” (sixth)
- STANDING REACH 8′ 11” (eighth, last)
- WEIGHT (LBS) 232.8 (fifth)
- WINGSPAN 7′ 1.75”(eighth)

Keep hearing more and more good things about Dewan Hernandez, a big who wasn’t allowed to compete last year in the NCAA due to a technicality. Probably a good guy to keep an eye on in the early 2nd round.

Hernandez Strength and Agility Drills

- LANE AGILITY TIME (SECONDS) 11.46 (5th among centers)
- SHUTTLE RUN (SECONDS) 3.25 (second)
- THREE-QUARTER SPRINT (SECONDS) 3.30 (second)
- STANDING VERTICAL LEAP (INCHES) 30.5 (second)
- MAX VERTICAL LEAP (INCHES) 35.5 (second)

Hernandez’s numbers in the strength and agility drills show he has the skills to compete in the NBA. He went out and backed that up with his performance at the combine. Hernandez’s 14 points tied for game-high in his scrimmage.

Oshae Brissett of Syracuse and Kyle Guy from national champion Virginia played in the same game. Hernandez’s performance with Brissett and Guy in the same game shows that with everything being even the Miami basketball program can compete with the nation’s best teams. Miami has had bad breaks in the last two seasons.

Hernandez followed up his 14 point, five rebound effort on Thursday with 18 and 10 in Friday’s scrimmage. He shot 13-27 from the floor, 6-9 from the free throw line and missed his only three-point attempt. Hernandez performance in the two scrimmages showed no rust from a year off of game experience.

The praise continually heaped on Hernandez throughout his week in Chicago can only help him heading into the draft. The social media army has taken notice of what Hernandez did in Chicago and that he is a player that teams should have on their draft boards. From Chicago Hernandez is going to Brooklyn to meet with the Knicks.

He went by "Huell" in school.

NBA is turning into a league that actually develops talent now. Won't be uncommon for undrafted guys to grind through the G League and make the show in the future. NBA draft will probably add another round when that starts happening regularly.

and Masai gets his african freak athlete (undrafted sign) too....

Those highlights. I'm more excited about this than the pick.
