Asia provides a level of political stability that Mexico is incapable of though. There are large sections of Mexico that are defacto narco states. Especially en el norte.

I'd love to see this happen, but the narco issue needs to be tackled and the federal government of Mexico has shown an inability to be able to control it.
 
It seems like a lot of dems are oddly reluctant to point their finger at China. I don't really understand why. It seems that has become a Democrat thing as much as downplaying the severity of Covid became a Republican thing. It's weird and shouldn't be a political thing. China is hugely at fault for the vast majority of deadly viruses in the last 20, 30 years. Yes, we should be better prepared for this and yes we should have acted out against China a long fucking time ago. That is all absolutely true. But we can still blame China for the role they consistently play in this shit. It's not racist.

If there's one silver lining, it's that pandemics can be very very expensive. This, in terms of the current sequence events, can't happen every time a new highly spreadable virus turns up...which will be more and more regularly, in all likelihood.

since money is the only reason we do anything, getting ahold of this problem would seem to be a good idea.

Well a “wet market” in China is not the same thing as a live animal market. Wet markets sell meat, and like you see in the pictures, it comes from animals that are already dead.

I lived in China for years, and was generally disgusted by the local wet markets, but mostly because the meat would be sitting out there in 40 degree heat all day and would smell terrible.

I did visit a live animal market once and it was a traumatizing experience.

I don’t know whether live animal markets have reopened, but this Fox “news” report seems to be confusing the two, probably intentionally.

Its funny. We have live animal markets even here in the city, at least in terms of seafood.

And I'm sure there is something resembling live animal markets out in the country amongst the hicks, no?

If Trump says night, Dems say day. Regardless of the subject or situation, it's just a fact.

Because they need to take exception with everything he says, no matter what it is, and then they corner themselves and can never backtrack. Much like, oh, Trump himself.

So your comment is spot on. Both parties are total clown shows now.

It's being reported elsewhere in print as well. The salient point is these markets need some form of regulation for safety practices.
