I’m saying there’s nothing objectionable about how they built. They didn’t break any rules. They did whatever they did. Should have nothing to do with how the refs call the games.

Yeah, the Isles are going about this whole “playoffs” thing wrong.

If you play more rounds, that’s just more opportunities to eventually get embarrassed in one of them. Better to just stick with solid, dignified losses in the first round.

there not bad contracts at this time , sure they may not all age well but there no different than what Dubas did by re signing 31 year old Muzzin for 5.625 until he's 35 or JT at 11m per until he's 34

it's also sad the bitterness over Lou's playoff run on the Island
 
Lou has also been doing this for 100 years .... Cut Dubas some slack .... He is learning and seems willing to correct his mistakes.
Btw .... Ottawa was a pussy team back then and are still a pussy team.
 
yea we'll cut Dubas some slack while he burns years trying to learn how to build a cup team , hopefully he figures it out before JT/Muzzin become cap anchors or AM leaves

I think that if the leafs miss the playoffs this coming season, or fail to win a playoff round, dubas is gone.
Just as shanny dumped Babcock a third of the way into the season ...... I don't think shanny will have any qualms about ejecting Dubas if shannys job is on the line.

I agree , i just hope Shanny doesn't allow Dubas to make any more short term deals like he did with the Kadri trade to try to save his job .

I hate that trade.

But in Dubas's defence (and I am not a great champion for Dubas), he did originally have the other trade from Calgary.

I just don't want the leafs to get caught in the goaltending nightmare that proceeded his arrival to the leafs.

This whole goaltending problem originated from the sparks experience.

I am sure that 90 percent of us here would have done the same move that dubas did.

Goaltending is voodoo ( stealing a quote from mz and volc) all these teams with the goaltending we presently envy, did the same thing as Dubas ..... Except their goalies worked out.

Fuck Sparks .....

And I think that marner will be gone by this time next season.

There will be a team struggling to make a splash and the playoffs during the season.
They will be much more inclined to take on marners contract (and the money already paid out) and provide the return needed for this type of trade scenario.

Not as weak as trying to turn repeated first round exits into some weird point of pride to hold over a team that’s currently playing in their fifth playoff series in the past two seasons.

Getting swept later in the playoffs >>> A competitive first round loss.
