am I wrong to think that we are getting to the point where we either lockdown or lose christmas? / it may already be too late?
probably depends what we mean by lose christmasam I wrong to think that we are getting to the point where we either lockdown or lose christmas? / it may already be too late?
it AB it is still social gatheringsHate to say it because it's a huge pain in the ass for a lot of people, but they should really shut down schools indefinitely as early as humanly possible. I think that's causing most of the outbreaks. I don't think we're that far off from getting things under control with help along the way so it's probably worth saving potentially thousands of lives by making a call like that.
We suck at keeping data but the estimate is that 22% of outbreaks have come from schools in Ontario, but those are obviously easier to track than some others so I'm not sure I trust that it's THAT high. I just know it's not helping. Schools and LTC homes are unfortunately creating some issues.it AB it is still social gatherings
the student to student transmission is minimal
I always tell my family that I don't want to be that dumbass family in the news that caused a huge outbreak and several deaths.my wife wanted to make xmas plans for us today and I had updated our status to 'doubtful (pandemic)'
still contact tracing in NS but the number of daily exposures is jumping a LOT in recent weeks, and includes a number of bars from late till close...
That's really not a bad outcome.probably depends what we mean by lose christmas
10 people gatherings....maybe
50 people.... unlikely
nahThat's really not a bad outcome.
Unfortunately, politics is on the table for the season, limiting family members means a better chance of no fights!
I'm used to about 30 for the big dinner, but I think people are going to sparse out their gatherings so they can still see everybody just not all at once.
We were losing Christmas no matter what.
Summer also gives you a negative feedback on the virus as well just due to being outdoors, less people crushing together inside, etc. Won't get that over Jan - MarchYeah it's a pandemic so Christmas should unfortunately be sacrificed for a year no matter what. It would have been nice to be in a better position by then so we can maybe weather a bit of the inevitable storm from the gatherings but it looks like that won't be the case. If we locked down today, we wouldn't even see the numbers stabilizing or going down until early to mid December. And then as we saw in the summer it took us 3-4 months to get down to double digits so yeah... I don't really see a way out anytime soon.
yee - they will do the right thing but i am thinking most will notI was talking about my family lol...that's our plan. We also have access to a barn and riding ring, might do an outdoor thing, but either way we are doing our small family Christmas, then over the next few weeks most of us will see the rest of us, with a few exceptions cause granny is 96.
