OT: The Official Toronto Raptors Thread

I would just LOVE to see both LA teams eliminated in the first round. In Chris and Luka we trust.

Yep, fuck Lebron, the original SuperFriends weenie. And fuck the Clippers.

It’d be so great if the Clippers’ big bet on Kawhi amounted to nothing, after the Raptors masterfully steered their way to a championship with him in the only season they had him (after acquiring him for cheap).

yeah, I'm grateful for Kawhi bringing us a ring, but cannot bring myself to even consider supporting the Clippers. **** them, go Mavs.

Yep. I don’t even have any personal animosity towards Kawhi. No problem with a desire to play at home close to family, though I thought he and his entourage did handle his exit in the shittiest way possible.

Fuck Ballmer & the Clips, though.

If some of the stories are true about how Uncle Dennis handled the negotiations and that Kawhi basically told our front office that we weren't good enough to win another title if he came back, I definitely want nothing but failure in LA despite having nothing but warm and fuzzy feelings about his actual time in a Raptors uniform.

Last year's core + Kawhi definitely could/should have repeated. The east wasn't as good as the year we won it (That Philly team with Jimmy was really, really fucking good and we broke Milwaukee mentally for Miami to embarrass them the following year), and that Lebron Lakers team was definitely beatable. I'm pretty confident that Marc + Serge could have contained Davis better than Bam & Olynyk did and Kawhi would do about as good a job as anyone on Lebron. LAL would have had no answer for Lowry & Siakam and we probably would have had a healthy OG to deal with KCP, Kuzma, whoever that would have stepped up as depth wing scoring.

I'm hoping this is the beginning of the Luka era though I wouldn't be surprised if Philly breaks through finally.

oh i have zero faith in philly whatsoever.

their stars are way too flawed imo.

I take (the younger) Jokic/murray duo over them every time. that injury really fricken sucks.

Luka is legit goat monstrous but Bargzingis is such a fucking anchor i don't know how they fix that.

Im hoping it's Giannis' year finally. Jrue might be the piece he needed.

I like Giannis, but I have no faith in him being the big shot maker in crunch time. It's hard to build around a superstar that can't be the guy with the ball in his hands with 30 seconds left in the 4th Q of a close game. Championship teams need a closer. Jrue might be able to be that guy, but you're talking about a guy who is what...barely top 20 among guard scorers in the NBA are your guy. That's the problem we had pre Kawhi. Demar had everything you want out of a closer aside from the mental ability to actually grab the moment and Lowry just wasn't/isn't athletic enough to get good looks against elite defenders bigger than him when you know what's coming.

I'm not convinced that Embiid can't close, but I'm pretty sure Giannis can't.

agreed re Philly and Murray.

Jrue is so underrated too.

its fascinating how wide open the west might be.

how awesome would it be for Chris Paul to break through?
I am amazed at how his play just does not seem to drop off. Really impressive what he's been able to do the past couple seasons, especially given his injury history.
