GDT Game 30: VS Anaheim, Thursday, December 15, 7:00 PM EST

Can't have another KK situation which is why I want them to stay away from Dvorsky.

999/1000 times you pass. Michkov is that 1/1000. I take him at 6 on.
Well, having Michkov not pan out for non-hockey or hockey reasons if we draft him at 7 is not as bad as top 3 picks Kotkieniemi or Galchenyuk not coming close to matching their draft position. Those picks were disgraceful.

I know nothing about Michkov at this point, but if he is obviously the best player at 5 or beyond, if not sooner, I take him.

IMO he's the best offensive player after Bedard. If he was from north America he bump Carlsson and maybe Fantilli. Only being centers keep them there over this kid's skill level.

Plus HuGo has already shown they'll take chances. Slafkovsky, Monahan etc.

I would be surprised if we're outside the top five and we pass on him. That kid is top 3 if not top 2. No risk no reward, Bergevin liked playing it safe and bargain bin shopping, I do not.

I mean even the new regime will not hit on every first rounder, top 10 or no. But we hope for and expect them to be a hell of a lot better than managements of the last generation or two have been. So go for it if the data etc. supports it.

Michkov is can't miss. The only trepidation is the Russian factor and I think that gets overcome. Russian kids want out nowadays.

So take the safe pick and not build a perennial powerhouse. Rinse repeat.

I go BPA and he's BPA after 3 let alone 5.

openly cheering for a team you claim to be a fan of to lose is psychotic
Because in this case, we win by losing. We don't win anything by winning random games now because we aren't going to win enough of them to win it all. If we lose now and get Bedard or Fantilli, we win big later, bigger than we will ever win this season. So Brad isn't cheering for us to lose, he's cheering for us to win Bedard.

You're psychotic. Brad not so much.

be honest, would you pay huge money for season's tickets knowing the team was not even trying to be competitive for another "few years"?

and I swear you stated we need just one more draft, now it is a "few"... You move the goal posts more than the assholes in public health with the "just two more weeks" stuff in 2020
I wouldn't have paid money to watch Bergevin's shit pile finish last, but I'm happy to watch this current team be competitive and lose a lot of 5-4 games. Bergevin's teams, win or lose, were fucking boring and low skilled. When humps like Danault or Plekanec are on your top six you are not an entertaining team to watch, let alone an exiting one. This season's Habs can lose every game and every game will still be watchable, entertaining and exciting. That's the difference. This team gives us hope. Suzuki and Caufield and Guhle give us hope. Danault, Belzille and Hudon do not.

Michkov is the player that drops because GMS wet themselves about Russia. Then Julien Brisebois takes him at 22 and the fans wonder how Tampa gets all the good players.

Russian kids may want out but can they actually get out? That's up to whether Vlad is forced to send more soldiers to fertilize the soil in the Ukraine.

My top 10 list would be as follows (for Montreal)

  1. Bedard
  2. Fantilli
  3. Carlsson
  4. Yager
  5. Benson
  6. Michkov
  7. Smith
  8. Sale
  9. Dvorsky
  10. Ritchie
That's my current list subject to change by next summer.
