New Canadian Politics Thread

For anyone who came of age in Quebec as an anglophone during the age of Rene Levesque, Jacque-Strappe Parizeau, Peg-leg Bouchard or the ascendancy of the Quebec language police and separatism in general, it’s beyond me why they’d want to cheer for French Canada’s team.
It isn't French Canada's team, it's MONTREAL'S team.

I have always identified as a Montrealer first and foremost. It's not the same thing as being a Quebecker. A Montrealer is also a Quebecker but not all Quebeckers are Montrealers. Montreal is a distinct society within Quebec society, which is itself a distinct society within Canadian society.

This is why I have always said to Quebec nationalists that if Canada is divisible then Quebec itself is also divisible. Montreal should be a city state like Monaco or at least an autonomous city within Canada, completely outside the control of the politicians in Quebec City. Everything the pequistes hate is in Montreal. You take the city out of the equation and all of a sudden the rest of Quebec is pretty much how the nationalists want it. But if you remove Montreal, Quebec instantly becomes a third world country because the economic engine of the province would be gone.

And, not for nothing, if you get rid of all the anglos, who will the pequistes blame for all their problems? They'd finally have to look in the mirror.

The best part of Montreal leaving Quebec would be that the Habs could finally sign some A level free agents.

Everyone I know in Quebec still is so miserable. Unless you speak perfect French you are screwed. I also think even if you learn great French as a newcomer, you'll never have a chance. You're supposed to be able to show "Proof' you can attend college in English(That you're paying for) like holy fuck. Time for the Feds to push-back on this nonsense.
I also think Montreal as a city is very overrated. it's not the exciting city with so much to do in 2023 it is portrayed as.

The ability of the government to regulate Canadian contact online is definitely questionable, and I know cons fucking hate it. But it's part of what we have to thank for not being Trumpland already. Our unique identity is important and worth safeguarding.

Imagine watching everything that's happened in the US and voting for this rhetoric.
I'll have a battle on my hand with my family and friends to get them to vote liberals this time around. The inflation has had a massive negative effect here.

Is there a site with collection of such rehtoric that I can use? Conservatives have been echoing Trumpian talking points for a few years now.

What would they tell you the Conservatives plan is for dealing with that is, do you think?

Not sure about any collection of stuff like that though tbh other than their twitter profiles.

Libs are 100% done. The young voters have abandoned them. That creepy conservative is our next PM. Libs cannot recover from the idea lack of housing/immigration #'s/inflation was on their watch.

It's difficult to have a serious conversation with people who think that inflation is a Canada issue and not a global issue. There are more than enough problems with the Libs, no need to make shit up.

I agree but the masses do think inflation is the fault of the Libs. They are f*cked. They are also blamed for housing costs and lack of housing.

Oh yeah for sure, when folks are having a tough time financially they want a change in government. Natural and it has worked that way forever. It is what it is.
Yeah, people aee stuff sucks where they are, they don't care that it also sucks in Bumblefuxk, USA too.
