Inflation adjusted, that's worth about 900 million more than the old deal.

Fucken gross shit.
League should be getting right to Amazon, Netflix or Apple. They are always behind the times. They should be getting on a worldwide deal with one of these platforms and quickly - screwed up.
Aside from Rogers sucking ass as production of hockey. That too. Cant believe it’s another decade plus of the leafs not getting any announcers that care about the team doing well.
No Leafs fan has a right to complain about announcers that don't suck the team's collective dick enough. Ask any non-Leafs fan how nauseating it is to watch McLean and Company prostrate themselves before the altar of the blue leaf every damn day. For a team that hasn't won a game that matters in nearly 60 years, they get too much love and respect from the national media. A bit more criticism might actually do them some good, in fact.Fucken gross shit.

Try being a fan of literally any other Canadian team for 5 minutes and then tell me again about how hard done by the Leafs are with Rogers. Sportsnet does nothing on Saturday night except suck the Leafs off while gently cupping their tiny balls.12 more years of zero home broadcasts for the Leafs, and 12 more years of me muting the TV, setting a timer for 18 minutes and then doing something else during the intermissions.
it's the gentle underhand toss that get's me every damn timeNate is all the right kinds of crazy
I have no idea how anyone can think this. Leafs BY FAR are the most crapped on team on Sportsnet and TSN. There is a shocking difference in views of the Leafs on U.S broadcasts. Th issue is non Leaf fans think if Leafs are shown the mots that means the network loves them and are homers. The content is so hilariously negative all the time.No Leafs fan has a right to complain about announcers that don't suck the team's collective dick enough. The amount of times that Rielly infraction last year was replayed was laughable. You see something 1000x vs once every other market you view it differently. That was a point Keefe made last year and I agree.I mean aside from the billions of dollars, fans and viewership - the Leafs as a team would be better off without weekly national broadcasts IMO. Sounds like conspiracy, but I do think that it affects several league anti-biases including those with the refs and league offices. Every nationally televised game carries the weight of "making sure that nobody is favouring the Leafs in any way". Glasses was onto something when his data nerds started looking into why the Leafs get so few powerplays compared to league averages.
As Oscar Wilde said, "The only thing worse than being talked about, is not being talked about."I have no idea how anyone can think this. Also, if you talk about Winnipeg people change the channel..
Nah, most of the whining 6 other Canadian fanbases tell me they lick the taint of the Leafs nightly. As Oscar Wilde said, "The only thing worse than being talked about, is not being talked about."
You're complaining about the quality and alleged bias of Sportsnet's Leafs-centric discussion while us non-Leafs fans are complaining mostly about the sheer quantity of it.
They complain because they only ever hear about the one team from Toronto, never about their own teams. Whether what's being said is positive or negative is irrelevant. If they're talking about the Leafs then they aren't talking about any of the other 6 teams.Nah, most of the whining 6 other Canadian fanbases tell me they lick the taint of the Leafs nightly.
gonna continue until dumdums like you stop caring more about our team than yoursThey complain because they only ever hear about the one team from Toronto, never about their own teams. Sportnet doesn't allow viewers to care about any other team but the Leafs. Personally I'd like to see NO national broadcasts. Make them all local. If you live out of market, you can pay to watch your team with your broadcasters and analysts. Your team and ONLY your team. One channel for the Leafs, one for the Habs, one for the Sens, and so on. No pre, post, or intermission segments shared across the board. Each team has their own pre and post game show, and their own intermission segments.gonna continue until dumdums like you stop caring more about our team than yours
They just paid 7.7 billion U.S, so expect them to talk about the team that brings in the ratings most next 12 years again.Sportnet doesn't allow viewers to care about any other team but the Leafs. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy after awhile. When Labatt's took over sponsorship from Molson 20 odd years ago, all of a sudden you stopped seeing Habs games in English on Saturday night because they played at the then Molson Centre. When you're a kid and the only team you can watch without a Centre Ice package is the Leafs, you probably grow up to be a Leafs fan. Not because the Leafs are good or fun to watch, but merely because it's all you get to watch. One of my nephews in Toronto grew up then and became a Leafs fan mostly because of the fact that he never saw any other team. (Well, that, and the fact that my brother failed to provide a home free of any Leafs influences when the kid was in his formative years) Now the kid is 25 or 26 and he went from rabid Leafs fan to barely watching hockey anymore because, even at his relatively young age, he's already fed up with the Leafs and their constant failure. He told me he's simply "tired of seeing them lose every year".They just paid 7.7 billion U.S, so expect them to talk about the team that brings in the ratings most next 12 years again.
The other fanbases believe it should be an even split of every team spoken about. That isn't realistic.
